Spring thing

Wow Mark.I think you did mention that your truck was stolen
but I had just forgotten.
Do you think your key fob was copied, like the guy in Canada posted the video about?

People always ask which insurance co is the best, but you just don't know until you have a issue.

I have been a costumer of Allstate since 1968 house, car, camper and cabin when we had it.

My only real claim was last year when the cat converter was stolen. They were super helpful.
Are they the best, least expensive I don't know? but they took care of me so that's good.

Hope you get your truck back soon.Supersized they just didn't total it with all the work needed.

I get the best forecast information from the "forecast discussion" page. Here's what is coming......

EXTENDED DISCUSSION (Monday THROUGH Thursday)...

Our attention then turns toward a strong weather system expected
Monday-Tuesday, with lingering chances into Wednesday. A low
pressure system will drop from the Gulf of Alaska and eventually
become a closed low somewhere off the NorCal coast early next
week. As this low strengthens and digs off the NorCal coast, broad
upper-level lift will tap into some low-end moisture, producing
widespread precipitation and heavy mountain snow. Clusters still
indicate some variation in the location of the low center, which
would influence exactly how much winds and precipitation we could
see with this system. Even so, ensembles have been fairly
consistent on the timing, and recent runs depict the low center
digging further east, ending up over the Bay Area before digging
southeast. Latest forecast is every similar to the previous
forecast, but doubled since 24 hours ago. Storm total precip is
now 1"-3" in the Valley, 2-3.50" in the foothills, and 3-5" in
the mountains. Snow levels will be fairly low initially Monday
morning at 1500-2500 feet, increasing to 3,000-4,000 feet by
Monday afternoon. Total snow amounts of 3-5 feet are possible for
elevations above 4000 feet, locally up to 6+ feet.
The heaviest
is expected to be Monday night through Tuesday. In addition to
precipitation, we will also see some gusty winds as pressure
gradients tighten in response to the closed low, how strong those
winds will be is very unclear at this point given the variation
in the low center, but at least gusts to 30-40 mph appears likely
for portions of the region. Given the synoptic set-up, there will
likely be periods of thunderstorms possible sometime Tuesday as
well, but those details will become more clear the closer we get.

Ensembles are indicating the low will be slowly moving southeast
through the middle of the week, keeping some chances in the forecast
through much of Wednesday. There is still some discrepancies in
the timing of how quickly the low will move out, so confidence is
fairly low beyond Tuesday.

...
I agree, it's a more nuanced description of the situation.

Julie is out shoveling the deck and walkways as it continues to snow today. A quote, "I'm in the mood to shovel again. Bring it on!"

I want to take some blame for the current blizzard. I was putting tools in my flatbed this morning and unloaded my second set of chains I still had in one of the tool boxes. Our garden had melted off and our snap peas and lettuce were coming up. I thought we were done with snow. Sure enough, by 3pm I was driving home in 4wd as it was dumping.

Hwy 80 is closed both ways, and we have chain controls all the way down into Grass Valley.

Confession is good for the soul, is it not? :)

It is dumping snow here also. What did we do to bring this on? Where does the blame lie? We worked on our spare snowblower this weekend. It's now running great. We treated Julie's arsenal of shovels with anti-ice. Those actions would not have brought this on.

We hoped - kinda planned - to get away for a couple of nights to soak in hot spring water. That's what did it. :)

Tonight
Snow before 11pm, then a chance of snow showers between 11pm and 4am. The snow could be heavy at times. Low around 28. South wind 11 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 5 to 9 inches possible.

Wednesday
Snow showers, mainly after 2pm. The snow could be heavy at times. Some thunder is also possible. High near 38. South wind 10 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Wednesday Night
Snow showers likely, mainly before 11pm. Some thunder is also possible. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27. East wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Cleaned up 8" of new snow this morning. Julie still out clearing all the roofs. "I want to keep up," is what she said.
We were rain shadowed out for this storm.

So it seems you now can't keep her off the roof? I know Julie is a Mountain Goat and hiking always seeking out high places... Is she going stir crazy and not able to get out and go places? Is the roof the only release she has? Perhaps a road trip will keep her off the roof. ;) ;)

.......an incredible understatement. She's done with the roofs. The trees are starting to unload ....so she'll soon be chasing snow bombs.

A couple of days ago I was in San Antonio, TX, and it was 89°F.
Tonight I'm in Green River, UT... and wondering if the way west of here tomorrow will be as wintery as forecast, and how will the roads be...?

This I have learned and know to be true: Different places have different weather.

Down to 16" on the ground with snow banks we don't think will go before mid May. But the sun is so warm and the days ahead are screaming 60 degrees next week! Lordy I have so much to do I'll spin my wheels ...the list is long after snow goes!

Yep-got to walk the dog yesterday, in 32 degree semi-clear cold windy morning before the snow hit. 10-20 below normal here in the high desert of NE Ca/NW Nevada, with several weather changes it seems every day. Today slight chance of rain, partly sunny with a chance to hit mid 40's over the next few days-heat wave-I guess, and again chance of rain or snow early next week. Will it ever end. Sun is out and I better take the dog for her morning walk! I need to head out and go camping somewhere-but all the roads are nothing but mud. By the way, TODAY is "take a walk " Day :) !

I’m beginning to think that’s a vicious and unfounded rumor.

Today it is raining and warmer-could that be a good sign-though they showed a picture on morning news of trucks moving thru the snow over Donner Pass on 80-but still moving anyway  !
