trailer railing max height

We are trying to find a used trailer to store our 2020 hawk slide-in camper on and to move it in and out of the garage. Does anyone know what the max height the side rails on the trailer can be to still allow the camper to sit flush on the trailer?

I have used a Harbor Freight trailer for our ATC Cougar.
I use ratchet straps to secure it to the trailer at each of the factory mounts. Trailer is same foot print of the camper.
No sides on the trailer so unable to give you a measurement.
Deck is 4’wide by 8’long. You could measure from under the camper at one of the tie downs to bottom of camper floor for the side rail height if understood what your asking for.
This trailer is too light weight for road use with the camper on it.
I do lower the corner jacks to make the camper stable when in the garage.

I have a 5’x8’ trailer with side railing. It is not at my house right now, but I would say it has 12” to 14” high side railing, and the camper fits fine. Anything less than the height of you campers side wings should work out, and most flat bed trailers have lower railing heights, or as CC stated, a Harbor Freight trailer with no rails would work.

Our camper has been ordered, but we won't have it for several months so I can't measure the height of the sides from the camper floor.

Ive looked at the Harbor Freight ones. their weight rating is definitely less the camper weight which makes me nervous.

Is this the one you’re looking at?
It supports it fine but would not take it out on the road, in the garage a different story.

Hey, that is the one I’m looking at. Its rated at 1720lbs. Based on our build sheet, our camper dry weight he 1,627lbs. Once we add water, propane and gear we’ll be a few hundred lbs over the trailers weight rating. I also want to be able to get in and out of the trailer when it’s stored to organize and clean. That’s another 200lbs. Can those trailers take 300-400lbs over their rated limit? That’s around a 20-25% additional weight.

Just wanted to give this a bump and see if anyone can give me the height measurement from the base of the camper to the bottom of the overhanging part on a 2020 Hawk so I can know what the max railing height on a trailer can be.

According to the exterior dimensions diagrams that FWC sent me, the distance from the base of the camper to the main overhang is 21.5" on both the Hawk and Grandby.

Edit: I just measured our Grandby and the distance from the bottom of the camper floor to the overhang is indeed 21.5". However there is an additional ~1" set of risers attached to the floor of the camper to lift it above the bed rails on our F350. So the actual height is 22.5". This will probably be different depending on which truck the camper was built for. However, i think you would be safe with the 21.5" number as the minimum.
