Trojan battery ventilation

Greetings and Merry Christmas !

For those who use Trojan 6V batteries I have a comment about ventilation of gas emitted under charge.

I recently bought an older Duffy electric boat which was powered by 48 volts worth of Trojans !

As the batteries are concealed, they employed vented caps with plastic tubing to route away gas.

Perhaps this is nothing new....but seems to address out-gassing quite nicely.

I am turning these batteries in if anyone needs a photo first.

Howdy

Yes...these were older Trojans....

I actually have learned that these specialty caps and hoses are part of a system to top up water in the batteries.

The caps vent gas while also serving to take in just enough water that each battery needs.

Anyone want the bits and pieces before I recycle the lead?
