So... this morning I took my camper off my truck -- for the first time in years (yes, years!).
Guess what I found in the truck bed, under the camper:
I found two turnbuckles that disappeared from the eyebolts years ago, and which I assumed had escaped out of the back of the truck.
But they hadn't escaped, just gone into deep hiding.
I'd replaced them (long ago) and added backing nuts locking them (more or less) in place so they no longer work loose.
I need my truck bed for non-camper use for a couple weeks, which is very rare for me.
