It does look like an older Hawk Model.
It looks like a short bed Ford F-150.
It is on a newer Ford F-150 with the deeper truck bed, that is why the camper is probably sitting on the bed rails of the truck and not the floor of the truck.
New F-150's have a 22" deep truck bed.
A 1999 Ford F-250 has a 20" deep truck bed, but a taller truck cab.
If you put that camper on a 1999 Ford F-250 SuperDuty just plan on adding approx. 3" - 3 1/2" platform under the camper for the proper fit.
Looks like a nice camper for $ 1800 !
If the camper was sitting on the truck bed rails for only a short period of time, I would not be too freaked out about damage.
Just get a good look at the camper (off the truck if possible) and look over the wood camper base to see if anything looks weird.
Just think about this . . . you have a four wheel camper raised up in the air using the 4 corner mechanical camper jacks. Where are the stress points? On each corner and the outer ledge of the camper base. If the jacks (or cable jacks) can support the camper off of that wooded camper ledge, I don't think the camper will be damaged by sitting on the bed rails of the truck for a short period of time. I would highly doubt they were dumb enough to use the camper, if the camper floor was free floating and not sitting on the truck bed? If that was the case, I would be more worried about damage to the very bottom of the camper (the camper floor).
But usually these darn things hold up for a long time without too many major problems.
It is always a gamble when buying a used camper, but you won't know if you are getting the killer deal until you at least go check it out. For $ 1800 I don't think you can go wrong. It will always resell for that amount quickly.
Good luck on the purchase.
