Used Camper Alert Thread

Yeah I missed out on a 1999 Grandby shell with wall steps, flood lights, furnace, roof rack and solar for $2,200!!! One guy beat me on the phone to him and even though I offered the guy $2,500 he still waited for the first guy to show who bought it on the spot of course. I am thinking about gutting my fleet to make it a more functional floor plan but figured a 10 year newer camper that is already gutted would make the project even easier. Oh well, I'll continue to keep my eye out and maybe something will come along before I tear into the fleet again.

Hey Rich

Watch the camper fit issue on the used camper models.

A 1999 Grandby Model is usually TOO wide to fit on a Toyota T100 truck.

Unless you resize / rebuild the camper base to narrow it.

If you are up for the project, then no big deal.

But if you can find a 2002 or newer Hawk or Grandby Model, those will be narrower on the camper base and will fit in your Toyota T100 without modification.

Just a heads up.

:)

Yeah I missed out on a 1999 Grandby shell . . .

Thanks Stan,

That is helpful information. I know that since I had to get a fleet for the T-100 but she has moved on to greener pastures and I now own a 2007 Tundra with a 60" tailgate opening which opens my options up. I want to try to get a shell and build out my own interior. I love my fleet but I have some layout ideas I'd like to try :)

I guess it's time to change my avatar

His as says "Grandby"

But I think it is a old "Keystone" Frame.

The Keystome Model 9.0' feet long and had the skirts / tail lights built in to the back of the camper.

Getting a camper stripped down that far takes some time.

So 1/2 the battle is already done for you.

:)

Four Wheel Pop-Up Grandby Camper - $6000 (Auburn )

Four Wheel Pop-Up Grandby Camper - $6000 (Auburn )

Does $6k sound way too high for a 14 year old FWC?

That is why I joked that my camper seems to be appreciating rather than depreciating. ;)

A couple years ago the mid 90's rigs in good shape were seen more around $4-5k range. However supply and demand will inevitably dictate pricing... If these rigs are selling at these prices I'll have to dwell on what price to eventually list mine at. :p

That Ballard, WA rig seems pretty fairly priced for a 2010 camper and a truck in decent shape, basically getting the truck for a few grand I'd speculate.

It is spring time, so prices are high. Wait until autumn and the prices will have come down a bit.

The FWC factory has a 3-4 month wait for a new camper at this point, so if you want a camper this summer it will need to be a used one.

Pods8, I would sell your camper in the spring or early summer. ;)

Eh, its only a small swing either way anyways. I want the new one sealed up first, so most likely we're looking later summer at the earliest.

2002 Hawk $10k Sacramento

I just talked to this fellow. I called because a friend was possibly interested. The camper was sold to the first caller on Monday, who gave a deposit, and is picking it up today with payment. The seller says he got asking full price and that I was about the 20th call he'd received. He said there were callers who offered more money if he would consider selling to them. I'm only reporting what the fellow told me on the phone.
