First, my thanks to fellow WTW'ers for the great suggestions about places to boondock -- we went to several and found some new spots. We had to change our plans mid-trip due to 14 day quarantine requirements in New Mexico. So we headed back into Utah and Arizona. That required us to 'think outside the itinerary', which is when we found some of the best spots!

Pretty much everyone we ran into respected social distancing and facemask protocols. We never encountered any of the jerks many folks have reported. All our boondocking was just us or people that settled a half mile or more away.

Gotta say I loved the low gas prices.

Hope you enjoy some of these trip highlight photos: https://www.flickr.com/photos/awg_pics/albums/72157716358035852

We are already planning our next trip to southern Utah!

Best wishes and happy travels!

Tony what beautiful photos.
All the rock art, moon and the cliff houses.
I see you camped at Angel Lake outside Wells.
We stopped there in 2012 earlier fall, sure was nice.
Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Frank. You are most kind. Angel Lake was a pleasant surprise after a long day on the road. It is now on our god places to overnight list.

Did you stay at the lake or the lower campground?
Back in 1981 we stayed at the lake quite an experience.
The wind during the night was very hard.

In 2012 we stayed at the lower site as the lake site was closed.
It's a nice place quiet and great views.

We stayed at the lower campground. Spot number 16, which was quite nice, mixed open and protected, very easy to level the rig. We thought about the upper CG, but with sunset coming on, we did not want to fiddle around. Good thing too, as a flock of last minute folks came into the CG shortly after we settled in. You are right about the great views and the quiet.

I think that's the same site we had in 2012.
We stayed there on the going part of the trip.
On our way home we tried to find a spot but
hunting season had started and the place was full.
Frank

PS Just checked we stayed in #6

Thanks for sharing your photos. The photos are wonderful and they bring back memories of where I have been and have identified new areas to explore.
Thanks and happy travels! There are several lifetimes of exploration in southern Utah.

Tony, thanks for sharing. I’ve gone by Comb Wash many times, but never taken the time to stop. That will change next trip!
Thank you, Steve. Deciding to throw our itinerary out the window turned out to be the best way to find some really sweet spots!

A.W., That was a great adventure and both of us enjoyed going through your fine photos! Thanks for letting us come along on your trip! :)
