Vernal Equinox & Spring 2016!

It's snowing here now -- big, wet flake-conglomerates...and starting to stick.

And I still have snow tires on my car (studless, so still legal!). :)

80s and 90s here in the Seattle area today. Whole different environment these days...

I enjoyed a bit of the Sierra snowpack with Callie over the weekend. Good coverage from 7,000' on up to 9,000' (my summit).

No corn here in Susieville, just this crazy above average heat for a few days, then rain/snow for a day or so, and then a 10-20 degree drop in temp. Probably some corn in the high country but it melts real fast down here at 4400 feet. Yep real old time Spring weather and supposed to hit 80 in Reno today-mid 70's here, then rain/snow on Wednesday and maybe on Saturday too  !

We had the first 80+ day of the year in Bend today.
Here's a snapshot of a weather gadget on my computer screen this afternoon:

At the official weather station at the airport in Redmond (14 miles north of Bend) they set a record high for the date: 83F.

yes, 3, 80 degree plus, days in Seattle for another record. Feels like the super warm summer we had last year. And of course I am working up in the "attic" of Boeings new building-5ht largest in the world. Love it, getting me ready for some warm desert temps this fall!!

New signs of spring here. The birds start up at 0530. Behind the usual symphony of robins and grosbeaks, this morning a raven and a group of turkeys joined in. The ground is yellow with fir pollen. The ponderosas won't be far behind.

We've got the sound of rolling thunder here right now. A few big raindrops fell, too...but ground is still dry -- so far.

Winter is still putting on a fight here. Yes!

Lots of thunder and lightning tonight. I'll post a pic of my poor peach tree as soon as its safe to go outside.

And just like that, its gone. The storm and the tree.

I'd recently pruned it from a bush back into a tree and it set fruit heavy. A serious downpour and strong winds were too much.

We had some big thunderstorms in Bend this afternoon (well, big for this area -- it would be mild in the plains...).

A dump of hail just south of Bend looked like snow on US 97:

And a couple of houses in town were hit by lightning and caught fire.

At my house it was just a lot of crash, crackle, boom, rumble -- and rain.
