Virginia Lakes - Eastern Sierra Nevada - August 2017

We were going to visit friends working fire lookouts on the Hume District of Sequoia National Forest and Kings Canyon National Park. It is hot down there. No joy in traveling in this extreme heat so decided to stay home and move 4 yards of road base and river rock.

Not much option for me, gotta go when I have the time off. At least its easy to change plans if weather/fires dictate. Just waiting for the concrete guys to get outta my way.

Gluttons for punishment? At least you can do it in the cooler parts of the day. Last two nights have cooled off nicely here at 3350'.

We're heading up above 7,000' to visit some alpine lakes we enjoy this time of year. With luck, leaving town by 3pm . . .

I'm going to Great Basin Sept 12 - temps in the low 70s during the day and below 40 at night. Unfortunately, I'm stuck at home during this heat wave. Yuck! Think I'll take the kayaks up to Lake Valley for a night or two.
We know Lake Valley too. It's a nice one for kayak launch and a swim.
