Where do they come up with this stuff?

The reviews are hysterical, but I'm with you Craig, maybe they'll keep the crowds down at D.V. :p

Sounds like it was written by someone who thinks New York's Central Park is the epitome of wilderness.

+2 on hopefully keeping the crowds down.

Agree 100% with your sentiments. In our state we have plenty of casinos. The parking lots aren't empty so that means more outdoors for you and me. They can have their mind-numbing slot machines, expensive drinks and smoky atmosphere. The saddest thing I ever saw (went to a concert at one) was people sitting staring at the machines with a drink on the counter and a cigarette hanging from their mouths. Yuckers.

Sadder still is seeing same at 7:00am. Was staying at a casino / hotel in Reno for a conference and went down to pick up a paper at the front desk each morning and had to pass by these zombies. Not sure if they were there all night or they got up early to drink, smoke and gamble.

I stopped in at the Topaz Casino to catch the end of a football game before continuing on down 395. Reminded me why I hate Casinos. CA seems so civilized when it comes to smoking.

Years ago, when people/co-workers heard that I like the high desert of southeast Oregon and adjacent states high desert, some would ask me "Why? Isn't it barren?"
Right away I realized that it's not in my interest to convince them that they might enjoy it, too. ;) Lack of people is one of the things I like best about these areas.
(still...I do want them to appreciate it enough that they support protection of its wild qualities. )
