Yosemite Fall 2011

Beautiful birthday, so far, ski3pin!
Looking forward to the story linking all those photos you've uploaded to the Gallery....I'll be patient.

Sounds like a great trip so far, Ski. I love your trip reports and am anticipating the continuation.

We had to stop by one of the Magellan’s favorite spots.
Ah yes, the Ahwahnee fireplace. We can't make a trip to Yosemite without sitting there.

I did not ask for or receive a senior discount.

Great trip report and picture !

: )

for those who have never been to Yosemity, there is only one thing to be said to that ...

GO !

Breath taking to say the least.

.

Great TR as always, you paint such vivid pictures with your words and images.

Long haul from SD once they close the 120, but plan on some winter Yosemite wandering this season.

Any stayed at the Ostrander hut?

Another beautiful write up, Ski. It takes me back to our late spring visit to the Valley, with a similar tour of the Ahwahnee, Mirror Lake, Upper Pines camp, etc.

Glad you enjoyed a great birthday weekend get-away to one the the Wonders of the World. Our compliments to The Lady for taking you there. I enjoyed the photos of course, especially clouds on the backside of Half Dome, and the dogwood photos . Your closing shot could make a great submission for the upcoming FWC calendar (hint, hint).

Great stuff, ski3pin -- again!

I know people who shun Yosemite Valley because "It's too crowded! It's like a city in there!". I say, "So what! It's a world-class, not-to-be-missed sight even if you're just standing in the parking lot surrounded by motor homes.".
And as you've shown, if you get even a couple miles off the pavement it's even better.

Thanks.

Glad you had a happy birthday in a Special Place. Your descriptions of the campground made me both laugh and grimace. I will try to be as magnanimous the next time I have noisy campground neighbors.

Thanks for the birthday trip report, 3pin! I bet you and your Lady used the FWC/ATC's heater a lot there in Upper Pines--the winter sun comes up late and sets early!

Mr. 3Pin,
We also get a bit nervous when forced to camp in campgrounds and know all too well of what you speak. Like you, we'll take a crowded campground any day over NOT getting to spend time in majestic places like Yosemite or Big Sur...sometimes it's just the cost of doing business.
Fun report...and happy belated B-Day!
