RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Suggested options?

Don't plan on walking on the roof of either FWC or ATC campers no matter what their load ratings are.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar on a tight budget. Batteries

I had bad luck with the V-Max battery (125ah). It lasted less than 2 years before loosing capacity. The problem might have been my maintenance and charging profile. I've now upgraded to LiFePo4

After watching that video I'm going out to give my 5.9 Cummins a big hug. My only problem with diesel is the price of fuel compared to gas.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Weathercovers

I found a cheap Sprinter cover on Craig's List. It was tight but it did fit. It was a PITA to put on and take off and seemed to catch on any sharp edge on the camper or solar system. I'm glad I only had $20 invested. I would suggest that you find a cover that would be a loose fit and made with...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Do You Carry Heavy Duty Chain?

I carry a chain and a strap. The chain would be used if I need to winch with the high lift jack.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West solar wiring issues

I agree with Craig. The wiring behind the lift panel is a poor design and used the wrong type of wire back when my camper was built. You could have a intermittent open circuit each time the roof is opened or closed.

I've wondered if that's the reason FWC went to the rounded doors.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Structural failure at rear door header

I've had FWC repair that area twice on my camper under warranty. It was evidenced by a crack in the siding at the upper right door corner. I didn't get to see it when it was apart so I'm not sure exactly what they did. They did say they replaced a 1x2 tube with 2 1x1 tubes. In any case it didn't...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Inflation, Deflation, Viair 300p,400p vs ?, Staun, ARB vs ? Any info appreciated.

The problem I found with the ARB suitcase compressor was the tube between the tank and outlet would clog with aluminum oxide. The tank is aluminum and any moisture that accumulates in it during decompression drains into a rather small stainless outlet tube. The aluminum oxide in this moisture...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Wiring my camper, questions on bypassing 3 prong connector?

Only 2 poles of the Attwood plug are used on that year camper. Running lights came later. There should be a ShurePower battery separator in the camper that disconnects until it sees about 13v from the truck.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Inflation, Deflation, Viair 300p,400p vs ?, Staun, ARB vs ? Any info appreciated.

I have both the Staun and ARB deflators. Two sets of the Stauns set at different pressures for the truck and Jeep. They are more convenient than the ARB so they get used more often. I check the pressure occasionally to make sure they haven't changed and they seem to hold their accuracy. I use...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2005 push bar / board piano hinge broken - how to fix?

I had that piano hinge push bar attachment on my '06. After having some warranty service done by FWC I noticed the piano hinge had been replaced with a heavy duty plastic hinge. That warranty work had nothing to do with that part of the camper but they replaced it anyway. When I pop the camper...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New FWC Eagle owner - Electrical Quesion

I had the same problem with the wires going to the roof. You're right, it's a poor design and uses the wrong material. The wire FWC uses is designed for rigid mounting and should not be flexed. I replaced my wiring in that area with multi strand flexible wire and tried to route it so there was...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Wiring Diagram 2008 Hawk ?

When I purchased my '06 Granby I asked the salesman for a schematic. What he gave me looked like it had been scribbled on a napkin with not nearly as much detail as Wuck's post. After seeing the actual wiring the crappy schematic was much better than the finished product. I hope FWC has gotten...
