    ultralight canoe

You just verified exactly what I was thinking. Another question or few if you don't mind. I see 3 different fabrics commonly used for covering. Nylon, Dacron, polyester. Can you give pros and cons for each? How about substances for covering the fabric? I've also seen quite a variety from plain...

    The Moon Truck

The skid plate has been reattached. Front torsion bars reinstalled and tensioned. Exhaust re hung from the frame. Parking brakes hooked up and adjusted. Driveshaft reinstalled. New fuel filler hose installed. At this point the underside is pretty much finished and waiting for me to put...

    The Moon Truck

I installed the modded fuel pickup back in the tank. Along with new late model style rollover valves, new fuel level sender and new fuel lines. The out side portion of the fuel pickup assembly got some POR15 and the tank was reinstalled using the special bolts I had made up. Basically bolt with...

    The Moon Truck

Somewhere along the line the previous owner high centered this truck on the fuel tank skid plate. it had a pretty good curvature to it and I didn't want to reinstall it that way. So I figured out a way to roll out the dent. I simply applied more weight than it took to bend it the 1st time. I ran...

    Sanitizing water containers

It doesn't take much bleach. But that's what I use to clean most any water containers that aren't regularly used. I have a couple of older Rubbermaid plastic Jerry cans that I use from time to time. The sit around more than they are used. Your description above is pretty much what I do. Wash...

    ultralight canoe

I've been doing some reading and I'm really warming up to the idea of one of these skin on frame boats. i think I'll be picking up a couple of books soon. I like the idea of a canoe that's light enough to put on the camper roof and not have to take it off to raise the roof. Takesiteasy, Have...

    Love it!

    Nissan Frontier 4x4

I don't have a Frontier. But have owned a Titan I liked a lot. My best friend and fishing bud has a 4 door Frontier. It's basically a small Titan. I've been real impressed with it. I prefer the layout to the 'Yota's. Interior is quiet and comfortable. The engine is smooth and powerful. It tows...

New Geo Den vs Capri Cowboy

Nice pics! I really like the "diner diamond" siding they use. Actually there are quite a few things I like about Capri's. If I was in the market for a hard side I would look hard at them.

    12 V Slow Cooker /Crock Pot and 12 V Microwave Oven

No I haven't. Just not crazy about the amp draw of 12 v heat producing units.

    Dodge 3/4t tires-ToyoM55 or BFG KO2

I'm also a long time BFG AT person. But on my Tundra I installed the Cooper ST MAXX 265/70/17E last year. I'm loving them! solid on the road, Good traction wherever I've used them. Noise is a touch louder than the BFG but so is the tread pattern. I have a thread here on them...

    Beer & Fishing

On the way to visit an old fishing bud at his new place in VT Mama Squatch found a cool cabin sign in a diner we stopped at. I bought it for his house. Fish Camp If you don't fish you have to cook. If you don't cook you have to fish. If you don't do either you have to leave! We fished and ate...

    12 V Slow Cooker /Crock Pot and 12 V Microwave Oven

Both will be a HUGE draw on your electrical system. Anything that makes resistance heat is a bad idea on 12 volts. Pick up a $20 crock pot and use the gennie. Or try one of these. It will do most of what a crock pot will do in less than an hour. I've been real impressed with mine. It also...

    Loading / Unloading Roof racks

Great idea. I'm sure it could be evolved to also work as a camper leveling board! On my Trooper with wide tires I stand on the tires often. Not so much with the pickup and camper. Love the idea.

    Shell Electrical System

On my 2012 Eagle shell the fuse box has spaces but no fuses for many of the camper options such as fans in the vents, rear flood lights ect. The camper is also wired for such and solar. Wires are hidden in the walls and ceiling. It also came with the battery separator device(and outside wiring)...

    Hawk Shell furnace question

I have an Eagle shell. It has the furnace stove combo in the corner, roll over couch, extra vent. I wouldn't have it any other way. All those options are worth every penny. Still leaves plenty of open space vs a built out camper. The furnace in my '12 draws about 2.5 amps when running which is...

    Timbren suspension products

I have a set. What I've noticed is that they are just a tad taller than the bumps stops they replace. So your truck is already really squatting before they even touch. That doesn't fix you problem. For part time use add Firestone airbags and a rear sway bar. For camper on full time get a leaf...

    Oops

Ouch. I've always tried to keep at least 5psi in mine per the directions. I wonder if the cradles would have prevented this. With the cradles they lift off the cradle instead of being stretched out.

    Using camper on jacks

Yep milk crates work fine. Mine is sitting on 5 double stacked milk crates right now. The jacks are lowered to just touch the ground finger tight for stability. I wouldn't do a lot of climbing in the overhead bunk while it's not fastened down though.

    Solar panel vs Space Case

This was one reason I mounted my panel on my roof racks. It gets it up in the air above the shadow of open roof vents and such. I wouldn't get too worked up over shading the panel from the space case. Just park so that the panel is in the sun not the box.

    Frozen battery

Nice write up. I have been a bit concerned with the temps here in the last few weeks. I left the SLA Battery in my camper outside all winter. It has been constantly hooked up to the solar charging system and I have run a few items here and there to knock it down and recharge it a bit. In real...

    The Moon Truck

While I hadn't planned on getting into all this the truck needs to be reassembled before it is sold. No sense the buyer having to take the tank back out to do the mods. So the fuel filler needed to be opened up as well. The nozzle on diesel pumps is much bigger than for unleaded. So I used a 1...

    The Moon Truck

Getting ready to put the fuel tank back in. The buyer is going to be converting this truck to diesel so the in tank fuel pump will not be needed. Just a fuel pickup line at the bottom of the tank. So I converted the fuel pump assembly. Old assembly with fuel pump. I removed the fuel pump from...
