I've spent my life driving service trucks. Even with some heavier springs I don't think ride is a concern. I'm rarely driving the truck empty. Mostly the camper only comes out when I need to haul something else.

1st gen Tundra tell me about your shocks and suspension.

The rear shocks showed up today. They look very nice. Still waiting on the front ones. I've spoken to a couple of local spring shops. Each seems to have a different opinion on what I want to do. By the time I run all over and either pay them to do the install or make a couple of trips with...

Refurbishing 1993 Dodge Ram W250 1st Gen Diesel - Seeking Advice (status update)

That truck of your's was my dream truck for many years. Never could find a clean one I could afford here. Not much to go wrong with a mechanically injected Cummins. Same for the reliability. Dodge pretty much made the same truck and chassis from '72-'93. Most everything is interchangeable. I'll...

1st gen Tundra tell me about your shocks and suspension.

I think I have a game plan for now. I just ordered these shocks and one of their proportioning valve extension brackets. https://bilsteinlifts.com/shop/toyota-tundra/00-06-toyota-tundra/bilstein-5100-height-adjustable-front-rear-shocks-for-2000-2006-toyota-tundra/ I think I'll take my truck...

Suspension upgrade path for a 2016 Tacoma with Fleet Flatbed

OME makes shims for that for both the coils and leaves last I looked.

How much lift did you get unloaded? I'm not really looking for lift just would like the truck to sit at the unloaded height with the camper on. That's pretty much how I set my airbags.

    Wider and Taller Campers

I love the way the smaller Eagle fits in my 1st gen Tundra. I had a fellow come up to me at a gas station the other day to ask about my truck cap. I had to explain to him that it was a full slide in truck camper. he was quite surprised. He was over 6' tall and really surprised when I told him it...

    Kidde fire extinguisher recall

I've now gotten all 5 of my replacements. They all came with a return shipping label. Just remove the new fire extinguisher. Place the old one back in the inner box. Place that back in the shipping carton and tape closed. Add the new label. Call Fed Ex for a pickup. I give them credit they...

    Tundra Brakes

PowerStop are not budget rotors. Not super high end but far from no name Ebay stuff. I've used their rotors m in towing applications with no issues and no cracking. Local machine shop can and has turned them as well with no issues. Typically Powerstop starts with quality OEM replacements and...

1st gen Tundra tell me about your shocks and suspension.

I only need 30 psi max in my airbags. Wedges sound like a bandaid to me. They might work just fine but not what I'm looking for.

1st gen Tundra tell me about your shocks and suspension.

I just spoke with a local spring shop in Baltimore. He said he could rebuild my packs and add 2 new leaves to each. Which should add a bit over 1,000 lbs of extra capacity. Real custom leaf springs not add-a-leaf. Change my packs from 3+1 to 5+1.Same day for around $650 installed. I might have...

    Super Moon and Clear Skies

We had a great view here. Looks like we have 2 more coming. Jan 1st and 31st. The 31st is also supposed to be a full lunar eclipse. Weather permitting I hope to have the camper on top a certain mountain in Va for that one.

    Tundra Brakes

I've heard that too but in over 10 years mine never have. I've been running Power Stop drilled rotors on my off road Isuzu's. I've also had great luck with Hawk Performance stuff as an upgrade. That probably what will go on the front of my '06 Tundra when the time comes for brakes. EBC makes...

Bottle jack and air compressor recommendations?

I've been very happy with my MV50 compressor. Best bang for the buck by far. https://www.amazon.com/Industries-MV50-SuperFlow-12-Volt-Compressor/dp/B000BM8RT8 you can find it much cheaper than this. For the jack I'd start here. https://safejacks.com/

    Chainsaw and FWC

I heat with wood so I use my saws a bit. But in the truck I usually just carry a bow saw and a good axe. Love my Stihl's. Looks like they have a whole line of rechargables now. https://www.stihlusa.com/products/chain-saws/battery-saws/

    Fleet Tacoma Bucking/Shuddering/Bouncing

I've had RS5000's on a couple of trucks. Total junk. Too much compression damping and not enough rebound. Pretty much turned me off to Rancho a long time ago.

Flawk project: Turning a fleet into a hawk

What a great project. I'll be watching this. I'm using an Eagle in a Tundra. I have toyed with building a new floor pack that fits the truck bed. It would be nice to have the extra room. I thought I had read somewhere that originally FWC bolted all the campers through the floor and bed.
