Building a portable Power Box - last updates

10/25/19 ... PS ... initially I did not post my LFP4 brand, I am no spokesman. To each their own. But considering the size of the Battery, it was a determining factor that did enable me to construct this box. I have iterations of this same battery tech with a past company. I can only offer ...

Building a portable Power Box - last updates

Interior wiring pic. I highly recommend the above product/link (post #6) for the triple accessory mount. It came prewired, with an in-line 10A fuse, which I was not expecting, pretty nice. 12awg wire (the connectors are very light weight). I wish this had been my initial purchase. For those who...

Building a portable Power Box - last updates

I am happy I added this threesome. It gives the Box one more accessory option, a switch option & an external V indicator. It adds to the aesthetics as well. The previous solo socket looked spartan & maybe lonely :(

Building a portable Power Box - last updates

Thanks Happyjax for the helpful & useful info. With my electrical projects (never have I attempted so many) I can research what I want to accomplish & what’s needed, glean the best assembly tips, without always knowing every intricacy.

Building a portable Power Box - last updates

Finally gave this a go. It’s pretty basic, definitely not YouTube sexy. Added 2 vents. Just need to secure the Battery while being able to view the controller screen. Not quite sure how to do that well? Overall I am happy to have renewable, portable power with a little plug in flexibility...

4 Generations, the Fall, Bishop to Bridgeport

We celebrated our 40th Wedding Anniversary a couple weeks ago. I thought I would give her a break, I left my fish gear behind. As luck would have it, IMO, one of the best paid sites in the E Sierra was available in Rock Creek Canyon for the night. As we took a walk downstream looking for some...

4 Generations, the Fall, Bishop to Bridgeport

Just returned from Sonora to Tom’s Place. After ~60 years ... really enjoying FWC heat for the last 2. My Grandfather, my Dad, myself, my sons. Memories of trout at camp, baloney, mustard & american cheese sandwiches in the boat, or on the trail, Schat’s Sheepherder’s bread. Eating dinner by...

    Battery compartment, housing, plastic case

Very true. But, (see post #4) I needed something that could fit over a bolt head, which I could not remove. FWC installed, it had previously anchored a tie down strap for a 12V AGM Battery w/box. I could not delete the Battery from my FWC order, so I had to swallow it, if I wanted to receive the...

Ultimate Flexible Solar Panels - successes and warranty replacements

Thanks for the video, fan of his many others. This flex ETFE Rich Solar panel on Amazon looks interesting to me ... 5 year warranty & efficiency rate is good. Would have to refab my frame a bit, might work for me. If it truly is a 1%/year loss in efficiency, think I am ok with that...

How is this for a power system? Solar vs battery balance?

Great that you put in the research. Happened to be looking for tire info just now. The weight issue, I brought up, was not whether your roof could handle the 77-106 lbs. I think FWC can handle 150-200 lbs? Hallmark more? It was about popping open, & up, the top of your roof. How will you be...

How is this for a power system? Solar vs battery balance?

Overkill, with panels, can be an issue if you do not “overkill” everywhere. Your entire system needs to be balanced. I would recommend you do not use Hallmark, as your #1, for solar guidance. #1 should probably be Battleborn, how do you keep your $$$ Batteries safe from harm? #2 should be Grape...

Ultimate Flexible Solar Panels - successes and warranty replacements

This is the Empire Cover I purchased ... https://www.empirecovers.com/detail.aspx?p=EMP77BP&v=EMP77B2P&source=cart I paid $208, plus $19.24 tax, earlier this year, with a 10% off coupon code, they are currently offering 5%. I am happy enough with the quality (for the price) & if it lasts 4-5...

Ultimate Flexible Solar Panels - successes and warranty replacements

This is timely for me. I don’t typically look up to “Ultimate”. I have 2 Solar Cynergy (Solar Blvd, now defunct), 120W panels, so far, so good. Mounted on an alum tube frame, good airflow. Panels have a warped a tiny bit but nothing compromised. Definitely exposed to freezing & heat, no issues...

How is this for a power system? Solar vs battery balance?

I would respectfully suggest that you should give consideration to having a controller capable of handling that much W. You will need to be aware about shedding panels when you would experience full solar gathering. Frying something at capacity (720) would be a possibility.

    Battery compartment, housing, plastic case

I have no IOTA. I am simple with 12v only. Panels, controller, Batteries. I am only cook book recipe ready with electrical. Post a request & ask for specific wiring guidance. Vic, Rando & others usually will reply with great info. WTW typically has been very helpful. You will need to be sure...

    Battery compartment, housing, plastic case

Call FWC, try the service dept. Talk about your issue with them. Try in the first few hours of the morning to have a better chance at contact. I might have an idea of what you are describing. I had a similar problem. It is bolted from underneath during construction with no way to access the...

    LiFePo4 Matching

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/torque-power-connect/id1468424746 This link, on your browser, should prompt you to the Torque Power app, which you can use interchangeably with your StarkPower Battery. TorquePower uses the same interior Bluetooth module as StarkPower. The app is set up a little...

    LiFePo4 Matching

Hello, Camelracer. We met at the Anza-Borrego FWC Rally last Fall. We chatted a bit. You had LenSun panels up top, (jealous) nice ... From what info I have gleaned, over the last 2 years, it would not be “advisable” to mix & match LFP4 Batteries. One, or the other, likely the new one, would be...

Where To Mount MPPT Charge Controller

+1 ... I have a 100/30 Smart Victron, so it is a little bulky, but am happy with it mounted in the battery box out of the way. Can’t speak to heat dissipation but, this summer with 100F+ on multiple occasions, have noted nothing dissimilar. Battery box has 2 small vents probably identical to...

    LiFePo4 charging

Just wanted to follow up with a quick discussion I had yesterday with the lead tech, formally w/StarkPower, now w/TorquePower. It basically mirrors Rando’s post #51 & adds some support to a preferred, lesssr SOC (not critical) when in use & also not in use. As a perceived drop in replacement for...
