RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West 30A fuse blowing (truck to camper circuit)

Like you said, that must be it. The optima(s) are pulling a lot of current when discharged. I'll check the wiring to the camper and see how many amps it will support. I might have to re do it to something larger and a high capacity bed connector. also I'm thinking about adding a voltage...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West 30A fuse blowing (truck to camper circuit)

I have two optima batteries in the camper. when they are very discharged the 30A fuse that supplies power from the truck electrical system blows after charging for a few minutes. I don't understand this as I thought the batteries would only accept as much current as the circuit could handle.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West air conditioner?

so what do you guys think? I have a 2000w gen. I was thinking about a portable a/c or one of the window units. take it with me for summer desert camping. leave it home when not needed. sleeping under the fantastic fan and a wet towel isn't cutting it. has anyone done something like this...

B team: Really like that Hella you mounted. I know it is flush, but a few questions....Exactly how is it held in place? Pretty secure? Can you run just one of the two bulbs? Also, if flush mounted, is the beam low enough to light up the hitch area on the truck? I do like the porch light...

I have the factory fwc mechanical jacks. They are great. Just make sure to have a cordless drill to use them. I usually keep them off to reduce weight.

I was thinking about one of the fancy ones but thought it would weigh too much  I went with a pouch type awning. Works great and looks nice but I'd be almost as happy with a tarp and home made support poles.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West AM FM Radio Antenna

Yes I have a radio in mine. I have an internal ant (in cabinet area). It is just a piece of ant cable with the insulation stripped off. Works fair but I usually listen to sat radio. Its mounted above the fridge. Best location for use inside and outside the camper. I also have a wireless...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West are these units really tough enough?

They are good for what they are but don't expect to run speeds like an offroad baja race truck when you have your camper on. I have to slow down a lot and handling sucks vs. not having 1000# or so in the bed of the truck. Like NCF said you can modify weak spots. I'd recommend spending...

I bought 2 blue top dual purpose optima batteries so I could get by w/o a vent. I had a single regular deep cycle before that wasn't vented and never had any problems. I haven't put in any switches for the backup/worklight. I might do as others have done and put a switch in the cab of the...

The hella is made to be flush mounted HL-200B http://www.awdirect.com/catalog.cfm The wiring wasn't there for the side porch light I installed. I took off the track for the sliding bed, unscrewed the interior panel just enough to run wires to the light and drilled a hole through the exterior...
