RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West J bolt size?

ntsqd - suggestions? I looked at the Derringers but I wasn't convinced that they would fit in the small space. My rig is a 2012 Hawk on a 2013 Ram 2500 Jason

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West J bolt size?

Guys - I managed to bend one of my J bolts on the factory turnbuckle while installing the camper (tried to fine adjust the camper location in the box with the bolts hanging loosely by one end and got one of them 'trapped' under the camper when I lowered it down..arghh). Anybody able to tell we...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Canoe or kayak on FWC

I have a similar set up...Hully rollers and saddle for the yak. I have a Jackson Kilroy. About 12' long and 60 lbs. I load to one one side. The other side carries a ski box loaded with lighter but awkward stuff - life jackets, paddles, fishing rods, waders and boots , yak wheels etc. I use...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Water system - using shore water?

Hey guys - what do I need to do to protect my water system when using shore power. I presume I need a pressure regulator. I picked up one at Canadian Tire. It is an RV water regulator but says it is factory set to 40 psi. Is this too high? Also, I presume I just connect to the intake, keep...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Thule Hullavator on a Hawk?

Hey guys - I need to find a solution to load my kayak onto the Hawk when camping/fishing solo. The kayak weighs about 60 lbs. Wondering if anyone has experience using a Thule Hullavator on their camper. It looks like it will work great, but I am a bit nervous that the roof rails would strain...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West External or Internal mounted gas struts (roof lifter thingies)?

I am wondering the same thing as Frank. It is a bit harder to raise and lower the roof now that I have a kayak and ski box full of fishing gear up there. I am worried that the wood insert for the hand crank won't tolerate the extra load over time (it already bends more than I like when...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West New Member just wanted to say hello

Mega - Looks great. Welcome to the gang. Quick question about your truck. Do you have an aftermarket lift? If so, what size. Also - what size tires are you running. I have a 2013 2500 Ram Cummins and need to sort out some tires +/- small lift for the upcoming season. Jaosn

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Yakima on FWC

Hey guys - I am interested in finding a way to load and mount my kayak up onto the camper. I like the idea of the boat loader and gunwale brackets. Do you guys find that you can lift the camper top with the extra weight up on top or do you unload the kayak/canoe when you stop to pop up the top...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Shell vs Loaded?

Ed - I faced a very similar issue with my recent FWC purchase. I love the Tacoma, but was too worried about the weight issue. Unlike most, I tend to travel heavy. I ended up ordering a pretty much loaded Hawk and put it on a 2013 Ram 2500. During recent trips, I was loaded with gear... bikes...

Wood - This is exactly why I mounted the ski box. I keep all the fishing gear up there...rods, duffel, waders, boots, fins, collapsed float tube and pump etc. Stuff isn't heavy, just bulky and often wet. This keeps it out of the way. I just unload the stuff before I pop the top up at camp...

Thanks for the welcome guys. Frank - My wife and I were at YNP in early September. At that time we were still in the Discovery with the rooftop tent...dreaming of our next trip in the new Hawk! Did fairly well fishing inside the park. Some crazy warm water in there. Fish were hungry. Jason

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Winter Storage Questions

Ramblin man - Thanks for the advice. What part of AB are you located in? I have a few more specific questions related to the antifreeze. Did you only put in one 4L jug? I thought I needed much more than that. Can you be more specific on the which valve you shut off to prevent the fluid...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Winter Storage Questions

Kispiox - oops, yes I meant the camper batteries. The garage is heated, so I don't expect prolonged freezing. The battery maintainer sounds like a simple solution. My wife will like the sound of that blender! That area of BC is amazing. I grew up on Vancouver Island, but got up that way...

Bseek - Thanks! Took a few tries. :) The chairs are Kermit Chairs. Best camping chairs I have ever used. highz - Yep, got 3 days of fishing in during the trip. Water temps were a bit cool and the hoppers are gone for the season, but we did well with streamers and nymphs. Some nice bows...
