RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Southeast Oregon -- Maps for "Trip Planning"

I received them in the mail today along with Malheur River Country. And my wife *JUST* said, "These are nice maps!" And she's no mapophile. You can get them by calling the BLM office (in my case, Portland) and giving out a credit card over the phone. Maps showed up in the mail with no shipping...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Planning: 6-days SE Oregon

Huh, now that is an option. It looks like I might be getting more like 9 days in which case I might try to cram it all in. Thanks for the advice guys.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Planning: 6-days SE Oregon

My wife and 7 y.o. hardened road warrior daughter are heading out to explore SE Oregon, leaving in approximately one month. We will have six days round trip from Portland, so it will have to be something of a whirlwind tour. A proposed route. Let me know if I'm missing any crucial destinations...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Idaho!

Thanks for the Whitehorse (Ranch) Rd #203 hint. I am working on the path now for our trip to SE Oregon in a few short weeks. I am personally fond of terrible roads, but with wife along, she always thinks we're going to break something whenever we hit a pothole. Knowing that is a good road...

I'm not sure if it would clear the side of the camper. Anyone care to try?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rear Gas and Water Can Holder

With all of the idiot drivers on the road these days I wouldn't want to have any spare fuel attached to the rear of my vehicle at bumper height (or any other height). If you have a fuel can on the back and get rear ended....you could be turned into a fire ball. +1 for diesel-powered trucks!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West On a 5 week trip and the 3-way fridge quit working!

Old thread, I know, but leadsled, which fridge are you talking about? My Dometic 3-way (1991 era Grandby, don't have the model number on hand) has the symptoms described here where it'll get cold, but three days later, it warms up. I've done a couple trips like this so far and need to get it...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Used FWC camper alert

This might be an extremely good deal. But living in SoCal and AZ, it might have roof leaks that no one knows about.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Oregon & Nevada

This evening I sent the Burns District BLM an e-mail asking about Steens Mt. camping regs, so I expect they'll let me know. Mark, will you also do my job for me and ask them if the entire loop road will be open this year at all due to construction?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Oregon & Nevada

Nat- let's revisit this as it gets closer. Would be fun to hook up somewhere if schedules permit. Anyone else up for a small unofficial rally? I will post a thread in the trip planning section as the time approaches.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Oregon & Nevada

I might see you down there. I will be there about that time, maybe a bit sooner with wife and 7 y.o. daughter for a grand tour of SE Oregon. We're avoiding Nevada, or rather saving it for a later trip. I think two weeks is what we're planning round-trip from Portland.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Transmission Cooler

For folks wishing to monitor more parameters than the factory guages....there are monitoring devices that plug into your computer port. I have the EDGE Insight CTS on my truck. They even have mounting pods for specific truck applications and look like a factory install. Heck of a gauge there...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Wire location question

Yep, that should be your pre-wiring for solar. (in case you want to add it down the road) And if I only have two wires at the front lift panel, those are just lights, right?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Use That Surplus Furnace Heat

If you have that much heat coming out of your heater you need a new one. My 96% heater uses PVC pipe for the exhaust. Bill, there's still a lot of hot air coming from that PVC. Especially during those cold winter and early spring months when a greenhouse needs heat for growing 'maters and...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West News Feature: Beer-in-cans > Beer-in-bottles

My pending Grandby remodel is going to have a built-in nook for a corny keg so I can dispense homebrew and hard cider. (I made about 500 gallons of cider last year and do a lot of trading for beer.) It's just too much effort to deal with bottles, especially on camping trips when so many empties...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West replacing roof vent

I did this job a couple months ago and it went well. I tore some of the aluminum roof skin when I was cleaning off the old silicone caulk the previous owner had applied. I was able to super-goo it with silicone and no leaks. On older campers, the aluminum skin can get thin so BE CAREFUL!
