RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Alcan Spring additional weight rating? What did you choose?

I've actually got Alcan rear spring packs on my 2008 Tacoma/2010 FWC Finch Shell combo. Don't think I'm pulling as much weight as you referenced with just the shell and furnace/stovetop added and 5 gallons of water/small incidentals, but I will say that the standard pack boosted for 500lb...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West My furnace's unreliable-start problem turned out to be the electrode

OC - So I think what the advice from FWC about the board being okay referred to was that the board seemed to have power, as it was flashing the lockout code. Therefore, it was probably an issue with another component, such as your electrode issue. The Atwood tech support asked me to check the...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West My furnace's unreliable-start problem turned out to be the electrode

Thanks for the detailed post! Figured I'd add my similar experience, as I've actually been in the midst of many of these details for the last few days. Looks like I had the same ordeal initially with my circa 2010 Atwood 8012-ii in my FWC Finch. After FWC service stated they didn't think it...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West How are you carrying your oversized spare with your FWC?

Sorry for late reply - been on the road with camper since last post and must have missed you question. Yes - have used it as a step up into camper throughout the life of the camper. Was anxious about wear on sidewalls of tire, so got tire cover and it works well to protect it. No issues from...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West How are you carrying your oversized spare with your FWC?

Have been using a CBI fold down tire carrier for the last 5 years and it works well for my 33" spare. I think I paid ~$350 for it. Kind of a heavy lift back up (have to remove and put spare in camper if gf uses truck), but its a nice step up to the camper.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Jerry Can in Your Truck Camper?

The Jetta was a diesel that I ran on vegetable oil. I could load up only half of the wagon's back and have about a 2,000 mile range. I got under the Tacoma yesterday to look for any spots underneath. It looks like there is room for Jerry can along the frame between the left rear wheel and the...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Truck Fridge Portable Fridge

Before sticking that down did you ever lay it out in the sun and see/feel how hot the backside got by chance? Did not check that out. Kinda just trusted that Phoenix campers was doing it and it wouldn't be a problem. Guess that might reduce the lifespan of the panel and adjust performance in...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Truck Fridge Portable Fridge

Just looked at that thin film panel. Very nice but for one slight problem, its 9' long. Had the thin film for a while now and have no issues with it keeping up with my ARB fridge full-time. Sometimes even partially shaded by my Yakima cargo basket and/or canoe on top. Never seem to see the...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West 4" OEM FWC Finch or Eagle-sized extended cabover mattress pads for FREE

As I've replaced my original 2010 FWC Finch mattress pads with two thermarests, I'm looking to get rid of them and would prefer to give them to someone who can use them instead of dropping them off at the dump. These would fit a Finch or Eagle model and are the full 4" thickness. Clean and no...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Ultimate Solar Thread

Well, I finally got around to getting solar setup on my camper. Went with one of the closeout Unisolar 68-watt stick on types and a Morningstar Sunsaver 10 solar charge controller. Decided to put the solar panel leads at the front in order to shorten the length of cable to my house battery...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Recall 1314 Sure Power

Bought the Eagle 2011 July. Just heard there was a recall on the Sure Power 1314 battery separator. Attached is photo what I have. Opened the plastic case and could not find a serial #. Advice appreciated. Yeah - definitely an IBS. Looks a little different, but appears to be the same...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Help needed with roof struts!

Put them on the sides. Had the same issue with side mounting on my 2010 Finch. See my posts #207 and #233 in the other forum thread: http://www.wanderthewest.com/forum/index.php?app=forums&module=forums&section=findpost&pid=67422

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West roof lifting helper shocks thingys

Has anyone had problems installing the "Columbia" struts. I am having a hard time getting the vertical distance on my 2012 Fleet and still allowing the strut to compress fully. I don't know if my roof is higher than some of the older models but it seems that the recommended "Columbia" struts...

Finally got around to this upgrade to my Finch with my recent purchase of a canoe and all the great fishing on the high lakes recently. With 20 pages of posts read, I decided to follow LTZ's lead and attempt the side strut install (looked at the front, but seemed to have the same placement...

Yes...and No. All electrical to the camper is routed from my aux AGM Odyssey battery under the hood. Fridge is directly wired to the aux battery as well. IBS intelligent solenoid splits that from the alternator/primary starting battery. specjoe, Are you saying that the "house" batteries for...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Ultimate Solar Thread

Thought I'd bring up this thread again, as I'm getting close to pulling the trigger on a simple solar setup with this stick-on solar panel on my new FWC smooth roof. Looks like my Finch roof will just fit the length and I think I have about a 20-30" width between my vent and right yakima track...

Sorry about the plate number showing. I pulled that photo and edited out the numbers. Just edit your post to remove the link to the old photo. All good - thanks for the quick edit! Yes, you were parked in Kanab. I pulled a quick U so I could gawk at your setup. Is it a shell with a heater...
