RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Must Have Option

Keep in mind that you need shore power (120v) to power AC. A small fan can compensate a whole lot for lack of AC.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Truck Fridge Portable Fridge

I recently got the Dometic CF-18 model from PPL as well for just over $350 delivered. Good customer service. Quick delivery. Still early.. but it seems pretty durable. And it works well. And you sure can't beat that price. May be small for some, but I couldn't fathom lugging around...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West What to repair cracks/holes in canvas with?

I used the same vinyl repair I mentioned earlier in this thread. Just two pieces of same size and stuck them together from opposite sides of the screen. ie.. one stuck on the outside, one stuck on the inside.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Suspension Question

I've got timbrens on my 2007 tacoma (stock standard 2wd 4 banger) and have had the fleet model 83 fwc on it since I bought it in August. Handles fine. You definitely feel the weight, but I don't think that has anything to do with the suspension. Just a little top heaviness going on. Timbrens...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Leaking roof on my 1980's FWC Keystone Camper

I got the same problem with the same back passenger side corner on my 83 fleet model. After buying it last summer I have cleaned out all the seams and screw holes in the roof and resealed them with silicone, but that corner is still a problem. Not sure what my next plan is. I've read about...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Small camper advice/leads

It sticks out the back by about a foot and rests on the tail gate. It isn't any wider than my truck, although probably a bit wider than a ranger. I have about 3 inches of boards below it to keep the jack brackets from sitting on my rails. The current version of the tacoma is a bit larger than...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Small camper advice/leads

I recently put an 83' fleet model fwc on my 2007 tacoma 2wd 4 banger, regular cab/bed. Only thing I did to the truck was add timbrens and it seems to handle pretty well. I went from 21/22 mpg to 18/19 mpg with the camper on. So far it hasn't been enough to bother taking it off for normal...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Before I Buy Used Grandby - Need Advice

    2) The camper was permanently installed on a truck when it was picked up from the dealer/factory, there is no eyebolt turn buckle set up, instead it was bolted directly to floor through the bed. Again it seems relatively simple to add the eyebolt set up. I have an 83 fleet installed in a 2007...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Solar Panel Installation/Wiring on Older Camper

I recently installed a panel on an old 83' fleet model. Got the cable hanging off the driver's side edge where it goes under the over hang and into a hole drilled into the camper near the bottom. Works fine except for one thing.. Just this Friday I forgot to pull some slack out and tried to...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Tacoma suspension upgrades?

Probably late in adding this to this thread but in case some one ends up here with the same question.... I have a 2007 tacoma 2wd 4 cylinder.. reg cab/bed etc.. except got auto trans. Wanted manual.. but hard to find. At any rate I found an '83 fleet model last august and I just added...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Which Wave to go

I've recently installed a wave3 in my old 83 FWC, but have yet to test it out on an actual trip. For the most part it is mounted to the side of the counter storage area using some brackets I made located right to the side of the propane tank box. Seemed like my feet might get too hot if I'm...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Solar Panel 80w $99 What do you think?

I had bought one of those 100w panels when they were on sale for $135 at solarblvd. Same complaints about lack of communication. I didn't really care either since at the time I wasn't ready to install it yet, but after a couple weeks I started wondering and called. Seems like it would be a lot...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Use Eagle Four Wheel Camper

Yea.. but dirt is easy to fix compared to structural issues and options that one may or may not want. If all the more usable elements were close enough to where I wanted them to be and I could haggle the price to where I wanted it I'd easily just use it as an arguement for talking the price...

Good point. Thanks. I guess maybe it just looks more fragile than it is. And probably a bit of the fear of the unknown since I've never messed with solar before.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Solar panel install questions

I got one of those cheap 100watt panels and it only has a glass pane covering it. I expect some sort of plexiglass covering it would be a good idea since I plan on mounting it to the roof of my 80's fwc. I was at the hardware store and was eyeing the lexan since it is suppose to be stronger...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West 1/2 ton Tundra with big camper

I imagine the shocks in those trucks are already shot to hell. Probably not a whole lot to loose, but quite a bit of money to gain by hauling a few more people and goods. Its not like they're going that fast. That, and it is hard to compare western countries' standards of luxury that we and...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West AirBags for a Eagle camper on a Tacoma?

That is the only difference that I can think of. (?) You also then have a much shorter wheelbase than the extended and crew cab models. Still, that does not account for it. You have the 3 leaf pack, two normal and one overload? Maybe you got some special spec leafs by mistake. Was your truck...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West AirBags for a Eagle camper on a Tacoma?

Wow, interesting. Are you sure you have the stock leafs? Did you buy the truck new? For the stock springs you should drop about an inch with 100 pounds in the back, not 1k. I did buy it new. The only thing non-standard about it is the automatic transmission. Is it possible that most...
