Had to chime in with one of my favorites . . .

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Tucson, Arizona Area in February

Highly recommend visiting both Colossal Cave and Kartchner Caverns, as they are remarkably different. Kartchner better preserved, stricter rules for visitors, but it is a 'living' cave, whereas Colossal is no longer forming speleothems, and air is much dryer. History buffs will enjoy the Titan...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Wandering the West for Pastries and other Baked-Goods and Sweet Treats

A bit out of the way, but if you're wandering into Capitol Reef NP, check out the historic Gifford homestead near the Visitor Center. The little shop sells great small-diameter fruit pies. They're excellent, and it's a long way to another bakery anyway.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Organizing rear of cab for storage?

Did a very simple, inexpensive modification on the Dakota. Removed the 1/3 rear seat, and added a plastic bin (like an 'action packer') in that spot on the platform. I used a nylon cord (available from camping supply stores) attached to the (former) seat bottom hardware, so the bin would not...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Kick'in the Habit

I'll 'second' all those offering encouragement! Besides, will be less nervous in those brushy areas of the Central Coast or So Cal high country on Fall trips. Wango's note must have been hard to write. Sincere condolences to him and his family. Rough road in all respects. So, good job Tuff...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Handy Heater - experience and/or opinions?

Has anyone used the 350-watt "Handy Heater" in a popup? Saw them at Rite-Aid, not too expensive. Space heater plugs directly into outlet and stays there, so is compact with no wiring or extension cords needed. With my Eagle, this could only be used with shore power, since the 110 outlet...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Santa Claus is Real

Great, Tuff Guy! Looking forward to seeing it in action. I happen to know that's not all Santa brought you. Happy to have assisted as an Elf. By the way, I do believe in Santa Claus. However, Mrs. Claus clearly never existed.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West best way to find free/dispersed camping sites

Good info on resources. I also prefer printed maps, and my truck is a roving map library (mostly Auto Club of So Cal county scale, which are no longer produced, you can guess what my opinion is on that). Dispersed campsites by definition won't show up on maps, but you'd have to know the policy...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West How about a Spring Time WTW Rally - Carrizo Plain ?

I'm moving from 'maybe' to 'going!'. Party of 2. Looking forward to meeting the WTW crew. I know from long experience that Tuff Guy runs great field trips!

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Camping Appetizers?

This beyond simple, so much so even I can do it. Saw it in a restaurant in northern Baja. Really best for warm / hot weather trips, light and refreshing. - Peel (if needed) and cut up 1 or 2 cucumbers (I do small wedges). - Place cucumber bits in a covered container, Tupperware or similar...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Sierra Nevada Older than Previously Thought

Interesting hypothesis, but with all things that involve 'black-box' data (isotopes isolated from clays that are themselves products of weathering), I'd like to see other lines of evidence to either back it up or call it into question. I'll have to review the paper at home to be able to comment...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Winter Break in Death Valley!

Great images of winter in Death Valley! Interesting adventure re locating historic springs, which were of course critical to desert travel 'back in the day'. Paper copies of historic USGS topo maps hard to come by, but the Survey has done a good job of archiving them to their (awful to...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West New Truck thoughts for 2011 Eagle

Here's one I just recalled. The 2016 Tacoma I looked at had a 'fin' type antenna on the cab roof. From what I can tell looking at their website, that may be standard, but may also occur as part of an audio package (description doesn't say). Anyone have experience to know if the Eagle rides...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West New Truck thoughts for 2011 Eagle

Glad to see the topic discussed. My 2nd Dakota is approaching 300,000 miles (great truck, contra Squatch, but experiences on this model are all over the map, so to speak), and I have a suspicion that it won't last forever. Sniffed around a new '16 Tacoma on the lot today, and it seems solid...
