Hi to the "electricians" :)

I am switching to LI and with that replacing my 30 amp converter-charger with a 45 amp model. I will move it up close to the battery compartment and connect it directly to the battery.

- 1st: Do I need a fuse between battery and charger?

-2nd: Will my 30amp ZAMP solar controller have a problem beeing connected to the same battery as my 45amp converter-charger?

- 3rd: What is the thing in the pic? (ordinary fuse?)
thanks to all for helping me with my stupid questions

Helmut

Looks like a 12v automatic reset circuit breaker although likely 30 amp version.

There is one under the hood connecting to your truck battery or alternator plus another located in the camper near the battery isolator.

They protect the wiring between the truck and camper in the event there is a short in that wiring. There are two breakers because there is a battery attached to the wire at each end.

Hi Paul,

so if I get this correct - not using my truck alternator as a charger - I can simply disconnect this breaker?

thanks

Helmut

If this is the one under the hood, disconnect the wire from the battery to this circuit breaker so that the wire has no power on it.
