Hawk roof won't close properly

Good morning,

i have a problem with my 2007 hawk model. the roof won't line up after i opened it the other day. I am not sure what happened, other that i may have popped open the front end first and then the back. Now when i try to close it, the roof won't line up, it is offset. As you can see in the photos, the rear left side a big gap and the rear right side is the opposite. It also has a lot of tension on it. I did not forget to unhook one of the 6 latches and the there is nothing trapped under the roof. Any pointers in how to deal with this?

Has to be the front or rear panels. Check to see if they are bent. Cant imagine how that happened.

I noticed that the rear end deadbolt to secure the rear back panel is out of alignment. I can't get my head around on what has happened...

Raise it back up and when you lower it, lift each corner and make sure the soft side corners are properly creased and tucked in. It looks like the soft side didn't tuck in properly. Make sure the door is open.

Raise it up again, check for obstructions. The canvas may have gotten folded into the lift panel's hinge point in a strange way. Lower it slowly and report back what you found.

I'm with Bombsight on this one. Raise it back up and go over the end panel hinges with a fine tooth comb. You may have sprung (bent out of alignment) one or more of the hinges. Also look for missing screws and rivets. Even if it is bent you may be able to tweak it back into place.

Question: I see the tubing on your roof. How much weight do/did you carry on it and was the top lifted/lowered with cargo weight in place?

That tubing looks like the factory roof rack. Capacity is 300 lbs. Got one on my Hawk.

ps. IIRC, the rack weighs 4 lb.

Hmmm...My FWC Yakima roof rails and solar panel install do not look like that..but it might just be the angle...I was actually interested in the total weight Platzi carried on the roof and if it was lowered or raised with that weight...evidently the weight was removed before the roof was raised or lowered.

well, it turns out the camper wasn't level. the one corner where the roof stood up, was down about 1-2". It is closing perfectly now. Lesson learned. Thanks for all the feedback, you guys are awesome...

I was taught by the dealer to lower the rear, then the front, all with the door open. The second step was to raise each corner and with the other hand make sure the soft side was creased on its folds. I stick my hand in and tighten everything up before securing all the latches. Jd

I am having a similar issue with my Keystone roof not closing properly, except it seems to be a byproduct of a sagging roof. I have a pretty noticeable swayback causing my rear panel to rub the headliner when I pop the roof. My rear has a big gap/overhang and the front is a tight fit. Anyone have any recommendations on how to bend the roof back straight without removing it?
