Laguna San Ignacio

Ted,
I met him after reading the book. He spoke at http://www.adventure16.com/ in West L.A. We had a "6 degrees of separation" connection and we had a long conversation about it. Macintosh was given a pair of boots that once belonged to my old ecology prof Gerhard Baaker http://www.abebooks.com/servlet/BookDetailsPL?bi=1185963817&searchurl=an%3Dbakker%2Bgerhard Baaker drowned in Scammons after a whale charged his panga.

You are planning on doing one of my dream trips, that I can't possibly make /grrrrrrrrrrr Tons of pics please so I"ll think I should have just quit my job and gone

The drive time from Tijuana to the village of San Ignacio on Mexico Hwy 1 is 9 to 11 hours and we won't be driving at night. From there it's about 2 hours out to the lagoon depending on the conditions. So Mark you can figure your trip time from that. It would be nice to have a camp with all of our friends but of course that might not be possible. Those that need to leave early will and those that don't won't.

The current plan is to leave from the K-Mart parking lot, near the international border, early Friday morning March 23rd. Stop in TJ for our tourist cards and move on from there with an over night somewhere near El Rosario. Then on to San Ignacio.

This is just in the planning stage but March will be here before we know it so please everyone, let me know your thoughts.

Mark, I realize what a long haul this will be for you guys but we'd love to have you there.

For those of you who have never been to see the whales I can assure you it is absolutely a life altering experience.

I agree with Jay, until you have had this sort of experience with the whales you can't imagine how it changes you..

Also, people need to buy vehicle insurance, in advance saves time.

Also, Depending on how long you are going for look into an annual policy as its often cheaper.

Ready to make a commitment to an actual date , so let's set the dates?

From my post above.

You can purchase Mexican insurance through AAA online now I think.
