Back on the Road! (almost)

A few excellent things happened the past couple of days:
I downloaded the photos off my camera including some images of the beautiful full moon my first night in Tucson

and the Endodontist said I'm good to go!

He is certain that I had a blocked salivary gland, which explains the swelling and tenderness and lack of toothache.

Argos approves!

One of the most important things this dental-wait did for me was to keep me focused on the now. Because I had no choice but to wait this out, I enjoyed my time with my friends and where I was "stuck" and didn't fret or look ahead. Since I have few solid plans, I was able to relax into this twist without much difficulty.

Tomorrow, we set off for souther Arizona!

Strange that I was just talking to my dentist yesterday and we got on the topic of dental work in Mexico. He said he's never seen a good crown from there. Of course we're in Idaho so it could be where the people from here are going down there and don't know the good dentists.

I'm glad to hear you are on the road again...

Hiya!
A number of my friends have had extensive dental work in Mexico - one friend especially likes a dental office in Los
Algodones. I trust those recommendations! But still happy to not have to test them :)

Insurance is the only thing that concerns me when I look at retiring. A big bill could wipe out savings in a hurry.

That's good to know! Referrals are always the way to go and glad you are back on the road!

Working on a write-up... :)

Bisbee, Az --> Parker Canoyon Lake --> Chiricahua National Monument --> into Silver City, NM

Dawn, looks like you're seeing neat country! Was the summit road open at Chiricahua nm? It was closed for flood damage repair when we were there.

Bisbee, scary mountain pass, and The Wall

I left Tucson on Saturday, visited a friend in Parker Canyon Lake, then headed up over scary Montezuma Pass to Bisbee to visit another friend, and a tour of The Great US/Mexico Wall before I left to head to Chiricahua National Monument.

Unfortunately, I didn't get any photos of Parker Canyon Lake. My friend and I took Argos and her doggie on a nice little walk part-way around. It was a good, albeit short, visit then I was on my way.

Drive through Montezuma Canyon, and past the Coronado National Memorial and forest, up into Montezuma Pass. It's a dirt road, 4x4 / high-clearance recommended. I used my low gear going down the steep downhill grade.

It's twisty and high! Eep!

Bisbee, Arizona is an odd, old mining town. I met up with my old friend, Ken, from college-days at a yummy hole-in-the-wall Vietnamese restaurant.

He's an artist and has some beautiful works in galleries around town. This one was my favorite.

I wanted to visit the Wall since I was so close to the border. The fear-mongers would have us believe that the Border is a vast, Mad Max-ian wasteland of Mexicans scrambling their way over and under the Wall day and night. Perhaps in more populated areas conflict is common, but most of the border is in areas without much for houses or people.
Where I was, was a very quiet area.
