Rocky Mountain High- Sept '09 Fwc Rally In The San Juans

What a show. The pictures just DON'T do it justice. As the sun sank below the cloud deck the colors went from orange to intense pink in mere seconds...so i took the opportunity to click off a timed shot while I watched the spectacle unfold.

A few shots of camp. Everything behind the sign was designated "Wilderness" in 2000...so camping along the road or at the main trailhead is prohibited. (as we once did) As a result, we cozied up to the fence and the sign...staying on the 'legal' side of things.

As night fell the rain continued to pitter patter away and the cloud deck was flying by overhead....

I couldn't get a shot to come out from the upper bunk...but this was the view I was checking out before dozing off to sleep. Because I couldn't get a decent focus through the screen/window I went outside and lean against the BLM sign in the rain for this shot...

And before we knew it...we were back in the grind......

THANKS a bunch to all who made the trip. It was great to meet each and every one of you and we were both glad we made the effort to attend.

I look forward to posts/trip reports from others in attendance. Post 'em up, folks!

Thanks for joining us! And you'll have to thank Mark for me for saving our camp fire :)

Capt.

Since you redeemed yourself at our last nights campfire in Eureka, and I promised you a merit badge for your gallant effort at making the fire, I think we shall have to revoke your title and elevate you to the rank of Scout Master.

Super shots mtn-high!

It was great to meet you finally. What a thrill it was be out there with so many good guys on some of Colorado's finest trails.

Let's do it again sometime!
