Wondering what FWC uses for roof insulation? I have a new to me, 2016 Hawk. When raising the roof, the insulation squeaks like styrofoam. Not that it is really an issue but I was just curious. Has anyone removed the headliner (I'm not in love with how it looks) and added to or changed the insulation?

Older FWCs used fiberglass batting, the newer models, as noted above use styrofoam solid slab insulation.
Regarding your question on replacing the headliner, to do it right, you would need to remove the sideliner, remover the roof, and remove the lift boards on each end, as well as the wood slats. Then you would flip the roof over to install the headliner. The headliner tucks up around the outer edge of the aluminum frame of the roof. it is stretched and glued in place with contact cement. The sideliner lays over top of the headliner, both of which tuck up under the roof skin before the trim ring is placed on the outside edge. You would also be working against gravity trying to install the headliner with the roof on. Some people have used other materials like wood paneling, but that would add extra weight. Better to stay with fabric. Living the dream just posted a diagram referencing this very question of placement of the headliner and the sideliner, if you hadn't already seen it, take a look.
