Summer Scene (and some aren't)

I know that highs around 100°F would be normal for this time of year in a lot of California and might be considered mild in the desert Southwest.
But here in Central Oregon, where the long-term-average highs now are mid-80s, we call it 'hot'.

So, Monday I'm taking my travel trailer (and kayak, etc) to the Oregon coast (where it's almost never hot) until things return to normal around here. Looks like Saturday should do it.
I'm just lucky to get a campsite on the coast at all mid-summer -- state parks are 99% booked.

Nice and cool today. 96. We get a hot spell and then a below average spell. I can live with that. Much better than a two week heat wave.

Today and tomorrow in Bend are sticking with full-on summer temperatures (historical average high is 81°F), even at the end of meteorological summer.

But it's nice to see that the first day of meteorological autumn, September 1, is set to represent the new season. This would be the lowest high we've had in months.

It's been quite warm here this week. Today the high was 79. Look at the change for tonight and tomorrow -

Tonight
Widespread haze after 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 54. South southeast wind 7 to 14 mph.

Friday
A chance of showers before 11am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11am and 4pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 4pm. Cloudy, with a steady temperature around 57. South wind 10 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Similar here. And in my house this evening I'm wearing a fleece sweater, rather than turn the furnace on. Can't turn the furnace on in the summer. (it was 90 here earlier this week!)
of course, tomorrow it won't be summer anymore...
