Beef Basin road and Indian Creek near Canyonlands Nat. Park, Feb....

I'm looking at driving that in May. Looking at the maps, there are sooo many options for driving around in there just west of Monitcello. Which roads to take? I'm not intersted in rock crawling, but exploring unpaved surfaces in and around the Needles District.

Also, we like to spend a few nights at the Squaw Flats NP CG, but need stay at least one night just outside to get a spot. We've stayed at the Needles Outpost before, but I am wondering about dispersed sites nearby instead. Any clues? We'd be coming up from Phoenix, Arizona this time.
