I need to have a truck camper transported from Tampa, FL too Portland, OR. Any ideas how I could get that done?

I've checked with a few companies that transport cars and other things. Their cost to transport this camper $5000+. That's 2-3 times as much as transporting a car and more than I can afford.

I'm not able to make the trip myself anytime in the next few months. Thanks for any ideas.

I'd be glad to let someone use the camper for road trip along the way and pay them additional.

I hear ya. Try USHIP. you list you load and folks bid on it. Some are pros and some are amateurs. They have a pretty decent system that will allow you to see ratings, reviews, licenses. Insurance, etc.... that will help you make the decision as well. Seems to work kind of like eBay in that the closer it gets to your target ship date, the more competitive the bidding gets.

I bought a trailer in Alabama, a truck in Virginia that ultimately needs to wind up near Portland, OR.

I am now in the process of coordinating everything and ultimately decided to drive it myself. I am having the truck delivered to Alabama where the trailer is and will fly in to pick both up on Feb 17 and head west with them.

I would say we could try to work something out where I could carry your camper but the truck comes with a 100 gallon fuel tank in the bed.

Best of luck and keep googling!

Try Larry Devilbiss from recreation transportation. He transports for Mainline Overland. I bought a Grandby shell this year from Charlotte NC and he brought it to Portland OR for $1700. +1 (410) 259-2117

Great. But I know absolutely nothing about Virginia geography. I grew up in Texas and live in southern Washington. I just happened to buy a truck off of eBay that was in Virginia. [emoji33].
But I hear Virginia is a nice place.

Since we stole the thread anyway why don't you go get your truck, run down to Alabama, get you trailer then run down to Tampa and get his camper for him....bring it Portland and let him buy your fuel ?

I used to do this stuff all the time when we first moved out West.

Normally I would but I have some very narrow deadlines that I’ll be lucky to make as it is, plus the fact that I have a 105 gal fuel tank in the bed of the truck that would prevent safely securing the camper for a cross country trip. Terrible timing for me

To the OP, sorry foe highjacking your thread.

David,

When I was a kid, we didn't consider Fauquier County to be part of Northern VA, but these days it's a suburb of DC. I grew up on a farm across the river in Brandy Station.

Apologies to the OP for the hijack....

I like your idea. Sounds like it won't work this time.

Hi Ryan-
Does the camper come with anyway to load and unload it? I.e. does it have Jack’s?
