RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Ultimate Field Repair

Way back when, they did not have metalurgy down to an exact science, so they overbuilt. If we stopped making all planes today, in a hundred years or so the last plane flying would be a DC-3. Reminds me of the "Kee Bird", a B-29 that sat for 50 years on a glacier in Greenland. They were not...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Cargo Trailer?

I pull a generic 8 ft. trailer loaded with two dirt bikes, 3 coolers, gas cans and all the firewood I can cram on it. Having the heavy/dirty stuff outside the camper is a good thing. Mine has a ball coupler and I worry about it a lot when traversing desert washes. So far it has worked out ok...

A nice big turkey breast and two thighs in my dutch oven on Thanksgiving day out in the California desert somewhere. Also a Maverick remote temp guage. Came out pretty good.

A-C, thanks for the Ebay link. Just bought the 100 for 17.99. Too late for this weekends trip, but they should help on the next one. Thanks everybody for the helpful and amusing tips. "Slow down" was my favorite. :D

The wife does not like cans. On the way in, all is good as they are packed tight in ice. The leftovers have a wee bit of trouble surviving the trip home.

Telephone Cove was awesome last time I was there, 30 years ago. Follow the dirt road north to find smaller less used coves.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Dometic RM 2193 problem - flame puffing out around burner

Successful install. The tool that made it possible. A liberal amount of prying and hoping nothing breaks seems to have paid off. Less than an hour total time. Mine was not as neat and pretty as the one linked to, but at least it works.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Dometic RM 2193 problem - flame puffing out around burner

If the wind is blowing, you (I mean myself) cannot hear the burner. You can feel if the exhaust is hot to see if it is still on. I just bought the Atwood relighter, but I cannot figure out how to get the combustion chamber/tube out. There is not enough room to drop it down below the up pipe to...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West I need to hear a good new joke

A frog goes into a bank and approaches the teller. He can see from her nameplate that her name is Patricia Whack. The frog croaks, "Miss Whack, I'd like to take out a $30,000 loan so that I can go on a holiday." Patty looks at the frog in disbelief and asks his name. The frog says his name is...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Fresh Water Drain Leaking

I am working up the gumption to tear my water system completely out to gain the space. I have never used it. I just use the 2 gal. rectangular generic purified water containers from the supermarket. The built in water system is just too much to worry about maintaining cleanly and safely. Right...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Public service announcement: generators

Ramblinman, I'm with you. I camp so far out in the boonies, away from anyone else that I can make all the noise I want to and no-one will ever hear it. If I had a jet turbine powered generator it would not matter. My 12 guage, .45 and .223 bother nobody. My loud classical music goes unheard by...

My pal was was driving us in his old Suburban through Baja to his beach shack on the Sea of Cortez on a dirt road miles from nowhere when the tranny started slipping.
