RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Powered by Pemex

Well done Doble. Wish I was close enough for quick strikes like that. I feel a Summer Baja road trip calling... I hear you. Maybe next month--I'll need to refuel by then, might as well turn it into a little adventure. Which reminds me: damn, I need to restock the corned beef hash...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West A little trip up mountains

Wow. What Sac-town misses in ocean it sure makes up for in mountains. Wish I had that close enough to weekend.

Snr. Doble, Sounds like a solid score. Do You recall the price for Magna sin? just curious. I'm hoping to get away in a couple of weeks. watching the charts:confused: TT Tomas, didn't check, but most recent intel was in the 2.65 zone. I think.

Well, it's looking like diesel is going to nudge $6.00 a gallon by summer's end. That will put a serious crimp in stateside travel plans for this gringo. However, if you're border-adjacent there's relief for the intrepid (or stupid, depending on who you talk to). I went to Tijuana last week...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Back from Baja

No me digas? Camelracer, that's classic. You busted me at one of my favorite stops on the carretera: Doña Lala's ranch store. She sells fresh ranch cheese as well as local queso seco. Dozens of wheels sit on a cooling board, backed with mission dates from San Ignacio and local honey. You can...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West My horn is louder than yours...

Ha! What first seems obnoxious actually has potential. Possible applications: -When trapped behind a soccer mom on her cell phone at a green light... -A white gangsta pulls up next to you in his rice rocket, bass unit blasting out the latest disposable 50 Cent track... -An accidental blast...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Pimp My Lifter

Thanks for the link, Mark. I wasn't using the right search terms to find that. Work looks over my head, so I guess I'll just treat it gingerly until it pops? Then maybe a run to the 4WC mothership for the repair.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Pimp My Lifter

Wow...someone's gonna score. If not me, still interested in how to shore up/fix the front lift mechanism. ALSO, has anyone changed out a water tank? How much of a hair-do is that job? Thanks...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Pimp My Lifter

I have a little problem with the forward lifter unit on my 86 Keystone. The thin wood veneer and support is bowed outward, and the wood itself is cracking. As shown in the exterior shot, the front of the canvas appears convex...bowed out. As a result, the metal "helper" arm doesn't latch into...

Someday I must roam south......someday.... You should and you will. Everything you love about "world heritage" style desert scenery and camping, but butted up against an ocean. FWIW, my advice is to not over-research it. We Google things down to the particulate level these days. Some...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Baja Shakedown

Yeah Sun, it was pretty deluxe compared to tenting it. I drop down about six times a winter, half tent and half in friends' poptop rigs. That's what sent me on my Four Wheel hunt. I moonlight as a project advisor for a conservation land trust program in the Valle de los Cirios, so a pre-packed...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Yet Another Los Padres Overnighter

Cool report Sunman. You Ventura area guys are perfectly situated for jabs into some bitchen' places. And with that Sespe moonscape, your Tundra looks like the lunar rover. Keep 'em coming.

As promised. Had a week to dart down to the desert, with three nights on each side of the peninsula. Graded, stony roads devolving in some places to rocky, first gear arroyo crossings. Only used 4X once to get out of one sliding rock hillside scenario. The '86 Four Wheel Keystone: very...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Gas Price Poll

The Broken W (green truck) is on the diesel tip, and that hurts lately. Diesel #2 is $4.29 a gallon in my town. B100 Biodiesel is $4.29 a gallon at Pearson Fuels in San Diego. Pemex diesel is $2.07 a gallon in Baja. SO that means more Baja, right? ;)

A Coupla More... A better shot of Alan's 1986 Grandby, bone stock and cherry. A couple of a shots from the ranch. They had these deluxe tent cabins, but am partial to the overhead berth in the camper. Wind blew 30 with hits of 40. Tents and camper survived like nothing had happened.

Quick overnighter for a ranch gathering with some vaquero pals. Camped on a big spread that looked like New Zealand thanks to all the rain we've had this season. Grey whales in the channel, deer in the poppies, and rack of lamb on the mesquite fire. The new-to-me camper package is showing all...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Flushing the water system

Far greater experts than me will weigh in here, but my brochure says to fill the tank with water and a few cap-fulls of bleach, then let it sit for four hours, then drain and refill. If it tastes like chlorine, repeat but with a cup of vinegar instead of the bleach until taste-free. Money no...

Very nice looking set up. Is that forest service green? Thank you, and yes to the Forest Service green. It started life in the White Mountains of AZ towing a trailer full of USFS quads, then ended up in Borrego and Julian. Camped this weekend in the mountains east of San Juan Capistrano. Lots...
