RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Backing plates pulling through truck bed

Hello all. I have had my camper, factory installed, for about 2 1/2 years now. Never had an issue with turnbuckles until this last weekend. Been on some very rough roads before, Mojave, all over Death Valley, random mining roads in Nevada. Today I noticed the bolts in the truck bed and...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton, what are most people using for their FWC?

I would also concider if the camper will live on the truck full time and if you plan on using your new truck as a daily driver. You will be sorely disappointed at the way most 3/4 and 1 tons drive unladen as compared to the 1/2 tons.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Flatbed utility trailer for storage?

I wound up purchasing the one I linked to. Pretty decent trailer for moving the camper into my garage. Couple of thoughts: I have a Hawk shell model, anything kitted out or if you have a Granby I would go with the larger trailer. I am really at the limits of this trailer and the couple of...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Dinette table keeps “sinking”

Nice solution. I liked this mount so much when I was touring the demos when I was having my shell installed I bought one and mounted it in my build. Haven't had an issue with the table 'sinking" yet but when I do I will give this a try.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Turnbuckles, oh those darn turnbuckles

Ive had my Hawk mounted on my Titan for about 8 months now. Numerous trips to Death Valley (Racetrack Road / Saline Valley), Mojave Preserve and the Arizona Strip. I can say that I havent had a single "loose" turnbuckle. I have no liner, camper sits on bare metal. Im no mechanical engineer...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Aluminum trim

Does anyone know of a source for the black aluminum trim used on the inside of the campers (its the same white trim as the drip edge on the exterior). I know I could probably get it from FWC or ATC but was looking to find it online. (Ive checked Camping World and a few local RV stores, no...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West My Porta Potti Solution

So to answer a couple questions. Yes, the wood used is pre-finished "maple" plywood found at Home Depot. Not a perfect match but pretty darn close. As far as smell. We have had these style porta potti's in sail boats for years. As long as you replace them every few years no smell at all...

No. It's mounted on the slides (with a small modification to the mounting bracket). This photo might be a better representation. Obviously the rear door would be closed for use.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West My Hawk Finally Ordered

Welcome fellow Titan-er! I would agree these trucks are billy goats and one of the most under rated platforms out there. As for the rear end, my thoughts have always been to uprade to the Currie Dana 60 but after 120k of hard (but not abused) miles my rear has been holding up just fine. You...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Shell Electrical System

One more photo showing the location, this is the drivers side above the wheel well. I have one spot left in the panel, had I ordered the flood lights though the panel would have been maxed out.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Shell Electrical System

If this helps. Here is a photo of the electrical panel in my 2017 Hawk Shell. I would assume the wiring harness in the shell model and the "loaded" models are different as the location of the panel is not in the same place.
