I use the standard Yakima deflector also, works great.

    Lithium Battery

Last month I spent nine days on the east coast of Baja. I had no trouble getting my BB100 back to 100% SOC everyday. I was running my 85L 2 way 24/7 and our roof fan at about 30% all night every night. I only had my 160 Zamp panel on the roof, but I had full sun everyday. Didn’t use my dcdc...

We have all our paperwork prep done for an April 8th departure to San Felipe, we’ll cross at Mexicali 1 on the 10th. We our thinking of stopping at the Mexicali Costco, not sure it’s a great idea? Any opinions or experiences? We’ll be staying at Pete’s Camp, very short trip, this is our...

    Baja Camping Trip

I really appreciate all the comments. We (two truck campers, both with trailers) are heading down to San Felipe on April 8, only for a week on this trip. I’ve decided to take my Polaris sxs sounds like it may have a use. As I said earlier this is the first Mexico trip for both of us and we are...

    Baja Camping Trip

This has all helped a lot. We were looking for some confirmation that it was safe and doable at this point in time. We’ll be headed down the last week in March and will keep this thread open at that time. We are looking at the Baja Nomads site also, thanks buckland! Many thanks to Occidental...

    Baja Camping Trip

Hi David, Why not as a group? We thought this would be safer? Wango, Pete’s looks pretty good, as you said, to ease into the area. We’re a pretty easy going group, a Doctor, a Minister and a pilot I'm wondering how long the border crossings can take going and coming at Mexicali if all your...

    Baja Camping Trip

Hi Everyone, I can't find any topics on this subject. We are thinking about a late March trip to San Felipe on the east side or something on the Pacific side. There will be friends with us in a Lance truck camper, a Roadtrek and our Hawk. For now San Felipe is our initial thought. The US State...

Wind deflectors and Aero mods for fuel economy.

I also use the Yakima deflector, it works great. As mentioned no fuel savings, but cuts down wind noise and deflects bugs. Brian

Thinking of selling your FWC ? - Now might be the time to sell

I have to agree with RC Pilot it’s a great time to sell (obvious) and I do think in two or three years there could be some really good RV values. Maintaining an RV properly is often underestimated by new buyers. Having said that, there is no way I’d sell my Hawk, it’s just to much fun! Plus...

    Thickness of cabover floor?

FWC told me It’s 5/8” awhile back when I was attaching a holder for my picnic table. Sorry thought you were talking about a FWC!

Math not adding up on solar/battery system

I was recently told that my non-lithium IOTA converter (2015 Hawk) would only charge my Battleborn 100ah to 80%. This may not help, I just saw the 80% SOC reference and it rang a bell!

    Hitch mount bike racks

Front hitch, I’ve travelled all over BC and the Mid West with mine, works great.

    Tundra Grandby combo

I check the weight of my setup every spring before the camper goes on the truck. I run the truck to a local weight station with full fuel w/o my Hawk. Then I do it again with the Hawk on, this gives me an accurate weight for my Hawk. Of course, I have Ram 3500, so weight is never an issue. You...

    Anyone with a Ram 1500?

Let me clarify, the rocking I’m talking about was when camped, not on the road. The 2500 was simply stock. No airbags on the rear.

    FWC mattresses are bricks...

We added a 2” memory foam mattress on top, very comfortable.

    Anyone with a Ram 1500?

My 2015 Ram 2500 with coil springs rocked side to side a lot less than my newer 2018 Ram 3500 with leaf springs when my Hawk was on. Funny thing but it was noticeable.

    Maxx Air Fan

Pvstoy, you said you drilled new holes? No matter where I move the new frame there are still a number of holes that are aligned or partially aligned. Any tips or just do the best I can!

    Maxx Air Fan

Pvstoy, thanks for the butyl and sealant offer, I have some coming from Amazon. Not a lot of fun removing the old variable speed fan. The screw holes don’t quite line up with the Maxx fan hope that’s not a problem. I removed the cover on my front unpowered vent and sure enough a pair of hot...

Just a note: my 2015 Hawk has an Atwood furnace with the sail switch, I just checked it the other day, was dust free.

    Cowboy Julia’s Beef Bourguignon

I’ve now made the Beef Bourguignon and the neighbors loved it, but a lot of work. Also made the Authentic Enchiladas with crispy shredded pork and cheese fill, amazing taste, but ridiculously time consuming to make. I handed the ingredient list to a clerk in our Mexican mkt and she collected all...
