RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West plywood under mattress - sealing?

I fully realize that sealing does nothing to address the issue of condensation but was asking if anyone had sealed the plywood to protect it.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West plywood under mattress - sealing?

Does anyone seal the plywood under their mattress with Thompson's Water Seal or something else? I noticed that after our 3 months in Alaska last summer we had some very small mildewed spots on the plywood.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Custom trailers behind our campers

I've been back for about two and a half months but I had forgotten about this thread until I saw today's post. We did almost 9500 miles and spent 79 nights in our Outfitter. The trailer survived the Alaska Highway, about 125 miles of the Dempster Highway, and all of the Top of the World Highway.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Weird stuff happening with my Dometic Cr110..

I have had the exact same problem with my Dometic. Have always had to pull the fuse to shut it off. Dometic tech support has told me I need a new thermostat. I'll be putting in a new one in the spring.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Max Wind With Hawk Top Up?

You're welcome. I prefer low tech solutions. Three feet of fluorescent chartreuse flagging is hard to ignore. I also use a couple of rubber bands to keep the latches from rattling. Learned both fixes on the trip home from picking up my camper.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Max Wind With Hawk Top Up?

with 3' I use clips with 3' of flagging tape attached to the front latches. Kind of hard to ignore when breaking camp. Don't ask why I started doing this.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Thetford cassette jammed

Thanks but there's no room either above or below the cassette. It's a rather tight fit.

Not sure I follow ...underneath where? I'm not at all certain I can get a hand between the top of the cassette and the bottom of the toilet bowl.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Thetford cassette jammed

I was cleaning the Thetford cassette after our Alaska trip and I've somehow gotten it jammed. It appears to be in all the way but I opened the valve on the toilet (I wanted to drain the tank that holds the water for flushing) and now I can neither close that vaive or remove the cassette. Any...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Back-up Camera Thread

I too wanted a rear camera so I could see my little utility trailer which disappears behind my camper but I went the wireless route. I purchased the Peak wireless from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001W6LGGS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Since I wanted it to be always...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Custom trailers behind our campers

I tried to attach the specs for the trailer but the file was too large. Specs can be found at: http://www.spacetrailers.com/features/ I purchased the version with the extended trailer tongue and 15" wheels. Spoke with the company owner earlier this spring and he said he knew of a couple more...

A Space Trailer would probably suit your needs. I'll be dragging one to Alaska in 12 days. The rig in the photo is not mine, just shows that it could easily haul kayaks or whatever gear that you might have.

Nice to see another Outfitter owner on here. I've had a Caribou Lite 6.5 for just over a year. In June I'll be heading to Alaska in it for 3 months.

I have considered that option but I think I would still need the generator if I was faced with a string of cloudy days in one spot.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West generator and recharging batteries

It's easy to find either the Honda or the Yamaha that have been converted to tri-fuel (gasoline, propane,or natural gas) by dealers. I'm leaning toward the Yamaha becaus the dealer I'm considering stresses that the conversion doesn't invalidate the warranty.

The Outfitter has a 45 amp Progressive Dynamics that functions as a three stage charger.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West generator and recharging batteries

While we'll have 20 or more hours of daylight there's no assurance we'll have a sunny spot or even sunny weather. Hence, the need for a generator. Driving isn't an option in Denali where we'll be for a week. No driving in the park after the first 15 miles or so.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West generator and recharging batteries

I'm planning on purchasing a generator (either a Honda or Yamaha 2000) for our trip to Alaska this summer. We have found that we can do well with our 220 amp-hour battery and our 100w solar panel using our compressor fridge and our 2 CPAPs (other electrical use is minimal). My concern is with...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Pulling a trailer while carrying a FWC

Sorry but I don't have any photos at this time and won't have any until we're preparing to leave for Alaska. We purchased the trailer after our first few trips with the camper. While I found that I could fit everything we needed in the camper and the back seat I quickly got tired of doing the...
