    Leaky Hawk

Make sure that the Velcro on the windows has a good flat seal when closing the windows. It only take a very small gap to let in a lot of water at highway speed.

    Old Atwood heater

Could have been low battery voltage and the drive gave enough of a charge to start the furnace.

    Dometic furnace combustion air

I just edited my comment. combustion air on the Atwood/Dometic furnace does come from the outside.

    Dometic furnace combustion air

Yes it does. Well shame on me, I jumped a little too fast on this one. The combustion air intake is from the outside, I stand corrected. Sorry folk. Dean

2017 Hawk 110 Plug socket not working.

The IOTA converter has it’s own blade fuse, usually located near the rear of the IOTA. That could be blown. If power is reaching the IOTA you’ll see led lights on it and hear the cooling fan.

FWC Factory Fall Open House Event Nov. 4, 2023

We've been to a couple of these open houses at the factory. It's always a fun time and a chance to mingle with the folk that make it all happen. Especially like the factory tours and seeing what goes into all the build steps. Missed it this year due to getting new body parts, not truck parts.

    Power Question

Since this happened at the tail end of the weekend it's possible that the voltage of the camper battery was too low especially since the camper lights were dimming. The heaters require a certain voltage in order to fire and you may have dropped below that. A test is to start up the truck when...

    Replacing 2 AGMs with 1 100Ah LiFePO4?

If you’re not ready to install a DCDC charger with wiring upgraded to 6AWG then you should disconnect your alternator charging or you run the risk of frying your alternator. Dean

Need Furnace Exterior Cover 2015 Fleet

Winter storage where it's cold and snowy?

This is the same advice I would give. Also best not to let a lot of snow buildup on the roof. Happy trails. Dean

    Adding a Second Battery

Hi, a lot of good advice so far. I’m the guy who suggested low voltage on your Facebook post. That foil duct should be removed regardless of what the current issue is, it creates too much back pressure on the sail switch particularly when at higher elevation. From what you’ve said here it sounds...

New battery won't fit through cabinet door. (I'm an idiot)

Rather than a chisel I’d use a putty knife, perhaps a plastic one. Less chance of damaging your cabinets.

New battery won't fit through cabinet door. (I'm an idiot)

Silicone is a good sealant but poor adhesive. That compartment needed to be sealed due to off gassing of wet cell batteries, flooded and AGM. Won’t be necessary for lithium batteries. Cut the silicone with a utility knife and peel it off. The battery compartment in my 2015 flatbed has an...

    New Hawk Quirks

I'm not sure what you mean about the lock problem, but that bubbling is definitely a warranty issue and most likely the lock as well. Reach out to your dealer. Bummer about the inconvenience this will cause.

    Starlink Roaming

Thanks for the very detailed report. We’ve just started to consider Starlink and your write up really fills in a lot of the blanks. We are just completing a trip to Alaska and staying connected has been very frustrating. Having T-Mobile we were aware of the roaming limitations and lack of...

    Tacoma Flatbed Measurements

Mainline just did two flatbeds on the new Tundra, one a Fleet and the other a Hawk. The Fleet looked like a nice tight fit. The Fleet as you probably know is a little narrower and the hard side is not as high so the pop up is taller. That gives you more headroom in the cabover area. Slightly...

    Tacoma Flatbed Measurements

I think a lot will depend on what flatbed tray you use. There seems to be a lot of variation in deck height above the frame rails. Your Taco is certainly a great build, but is the frame up to the weight of a flatbed camper and gear? Dean

    Fridge move to backseat

I just removed my seat and the bolt holes go all the way through, so if yours is like that you could use oof those holes. Originally I had kept my seat (folded up) and was reluctant to drill new holes so I went through the vent on the back of the cab. Turns out that was an invitation for a mouse...
