Bombsight Build Thread

Not the kind of camping I bought the Hawk for ... but for my Brother-in-laws wedding reception in Pensacola, It fit the bill.

Thanks, jim

Cut approx. 8" off bottom to fit bunk height. Top hooks have been Plasti-dipped 4 times.
Have not traveled with it yet but I would imagine that if its not in place, it will either be flat on the bed or on its side on floor of camper.

Thanks for the links. I really like the ladder ... I can still climb up but I know I'll be needing it sometime soon. I have to look into the plastic dip material too. Here is one of the rare earth openers I made for my kitchen a number of years ago.

All three steps replaced with stainless ones.
Peace of mind as well as cosmetic improvement.

Hey Bombsight did you sort out the problem with the roof?
Yessir, I did.
I spent most of Memorial Day working on it. I used pipe clamps and a 6x6 wood block to straighten the edge and level it. The roof still has a slight crease in it at the front right corner ... but aside from having to be above it to see it, I'm happy it wasn't worse than what it was/is.
I'm still cocked and ready to blast the wife for anything she does so stupid again.

Great thread. We are getting close to ordering a Hawk and I appreciate the links to all the products you took the time to include.

Regarding your inside shower build....did you have them put the interior shower mixer valve in or are you planning on rigging that up yourself?

Andy ... I have two shower heads of the same make. One has a longer hose which is routed through the front left access door and upward to ceiling inside (it's coiled up between camper and fender well when not using indoor shower) ... the other is mounted between camper and cab when not in use with outside shower. Both are connected to the outside shower output and a splitter is tucked between camper and drivers side quarter panel. Thanks

Have you used the A/C enough to have any thoughts on it? I'm assuming it was installed by FWC. We have dogs that we would want to leave in the camper at times.

I think in the worst of Texas heat, it could use a little bigger one ... but in our typical hot days, its a wonderful thing. A dog should be safe. It was installed by FWCs. Cant stress the need for the climate pkg. enough.

By climate pkg do you mean the thermal pack liner? We will be ordering that for sure.

How is the power draw with the AC? Have you run it without shore power much? I know from your pictures that you have one panel on the roof, but I imagine the AC sucks electricity like crazy.
