Washington D.C. has modified their mask policy. Fully vaccinated persons are no longer required to wear a mask with specific exceptions... venue requirements must be honored.

The NPS has a more restrictive policy and this hasn't changed but maybe it will

This is very good news. There is no reason that fully vaccinated people should be required to be masked. The vaccines work. Large numbers of Americans have been vaccinated. Perhaps even a majority of Americans. Let's get on with life folks....

I have a good friend who probably will never fully recover from COVID. There is a high possibility he will never again be able to do the activities he loved.

In close proximity public settings, I will continue to wear a mask until the pandemic is over, not before.

Steve I agree with you whole heartedly. It is such a small inconvenience compared to the consequences. It will only go back up with variants if we are not sensible and do a simple thing. My 34 year old healthy nephew caught covid at the very start. Though over the initial he has the long covid symptoms. Literally an ounce of prevention........

I now have had two friends who were fully vaccinated that both still got COVID. Now neither of them got severely ill, so the vaccine was effective, but it does mean that even vaccinated folks can contract, and therefore spread COVID.

In smaller groups where I know everyone is vaccinated, we are relaxing the masking to some degree. However in public settings, indoors or where you can't keep some distance, I will continue to wear a mask until the vaccination rates are higher. Wearing a mask is not a big deal at all, and if it means we can get to some sort of normalcy faster, I am all for it.

My nephew, mid forties was one of the early cases (April 2020) in Colorado Springs. A big strong guy, he was hospitalized and they almost lost him three times. He finally survived after a long hospitalization.

Al, was a fellow who ran the team of referees my wife used to officiate at county schools team events. We knew Al for years, he ran up and down the court with the best of them, he got Covid and died last winter.

Our friend Barking Spider's father in law got Covid. It put him in the hospital but he did well.

Jeff, the husband of another county school teacher, together they hosted so many staff social events at their home over the years, we've known them for years - his parents lived in an adult independent living community. They both got Covid and died one day apart. Jeff lost both his parents in two days.

Getting vaccinated, wearing masks are such a small inconvenience...........................keeping friends, family, and love ones safe and alive is so much more important.

Yes, this has been a difficult, for some fatal, year with a difficult virus. But the tide has turned and we now have a way to manage it although we will likely never defeat it.

It is hard for some of us to "believe the science" when "the science" has been polluted by politics.

And now they say the U.S. will probably not achieve herd immunity, which requires at least 80% of us to be vaccinated. It’s my belief we still have quite a ways to go and it’s premature to begin relaxing. For now, we’re still wearing our masks in public and not dining at restaurants indoors but supporting them by taking out. Tonight is Taco Tuesday...and a margarita to go!

If you count people who have had covid and those still in line for their shots, herd immunity seems possible.

Just because you had Covid does not make you immune. If you had Covid and take the shot it also has shown symptoms of long Covid reverse.

She felt a bit under the weather the next day, while I was spunky enough to clean the garage!

We both wear masks in public spaces, and practice distancing, especially outdoors on the trail. It would be such a relief if we could get enough people on board to knock this thing down.

Two weeks after getting our second shot we went inside a grocery store for the first time in over a year. Still used our masks but felt much safer.
