July 4th CA camping w/dog?

This is a bit early, but does anyone have suggestions on quiet places to camp over July 4 that are roughly 4 hrs ( plus/minus) from the CA Bay Area? I have a big dog that gets traumatized by fireworks.

I'm thinking redwoods, but being a holiday I'm also hoping to avoid tons of people too! Respite for dog and owner both.

Jackson Meadow Reservoir was a favorite of ours...haven't been there in a few years though. East Meadow was our favorite but Pass Creek was an option. Both are set on a beautiful Sierra Nevada mountain lake. More CGs around the lake a couple miles further on over the dam.

Take 80 to Truckee, take Hwy 89 north 17 miles, go west to Forest Road #7, and take it 15 miles to the CG....paved all the way.
