RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Found a very nice Sunlight pop up

Silvertip, I'm an ex-FWC owner, now running a 1999 Sunlite Eagle SB. The Sunlite has been put through the same twisting, off-camber arroyo crossings, diamond-cutter lava fields, "bottomless" silt beds, and bowel-slackening washboard that my FWC endured. Repeatedly. For over a decade. (My pal...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Custom Phoenix Pop Up - Toyota Tacoma

That's a really nicely-sorted, good-looking setup. I had a friend with a Phoenix on his Tacoma, and it did quite well off road, construction-wise. I really like the neutral interior colors; so many campers have the "Grandma's parlour" theme you see in RVs, with cheesy hardware, etc. Congrats on...

Glad to see you back in the game. Must admit I was sad to see the green beast go. Keep us posted. Thanks Suni. Dona Lala sends her respects. You and I have at least one mutual friend (Tim E), so hopefully we'll share a campfire one day. I passed you with this camper (on a white Dodge Ram) a...

Well, that didn't last long. Sold my old Ford diesel with Grandby, with designs on going lightweight for a time. Changed my tune, and scavenged a 2008 Tundra DC 4X4, adding a Sun-Lite pop-top purchased from a pal. The Sun-Lite is the veteran of MANY Baja campaigns, and I've been duly impressed...

Sunman, still kicking and spending plenty of time "down below." Hey, I don't know if folks use Private Message on this board. . And if someone could do something about the water temps in SoCal, I'd appreciate it.

Well, look who the cat dragged in... You'll learn shortly why I'm topping this old thread. Forgive me for not placing it in the "For Sale" zone; DD, move as needed. Over the last couple of years I've had a string of great runs, but have shirked all trip report duties. What can I say? Work has...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Porch Light Mystery

Puffins, the catalog of needed fixes I ran into this trip pushed the porch light down the list. She's an old unit, and I need to buy a bag of bulbs, fuses, fasteners, etc. and spend a full day tightening her up. Will run through Stan's checklist and report findings. BUT was as comfortable as...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Porch Light Mystery

Thanks for all the info Stan. Nice to have "the man" available for Q and A. The Grapevine ate my radiator, but a good trip overall. Tomas, it was pretty small man. But the Sierra trout made up for it. Posted up at Huntington Lake.

Thanks for all this. I'll leave no stone unturned. Am off to a central coast ranch, and then the western Sierra (up by Mono Hot Springs). "Pansy trip," as there will be little or any off pavement. I hang my head.

Tall, skinny BFG "TAKO"s (E -rated) on the Broken W camper. Can't say enough good about them from past experience. Not the best for deep sand (they don't display quite the deflation bulge of softer, wider skins), not the best for deep mud, but superb sidewall strength, impervious to spines and...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Vehicle type and fuel mileage?

95 F250 diesel 4X4 with Keystone. Under optimum conditions (Southbound with a NW breeze, 55-60mph) the Broken W bumped right up against 20mpg. With Mexi-diesel at $2.08, that's the equivalent of about 51mpg. My more typical, real-world mpg is more like 13mpg.
