Back In Our Backyard - July 2023

Thanks Monte.Another beautiful area.
Not surprised at the amount of snow.
After all there is still skiing at Mammoth Mt.
and Tioga Pass has just recently opened.

Great to see all the "spring" wildflowers.

Let me know if you want me to send you some cool coast air?

Just send me a self addressed stamped envelope and I'll fill it with
genuine Monterey Bay fog/cool air.

Stay out of the heat.
Frank

Pretty doggone nice backyard (except for the needle nose bloodsuckers)! Such beautiful country, I see why you’re so fond of it!

Thanks for letting us tag along…

An update on the areas covered in the trip story. Julie spent the day of July 27th hiking out to Bassi Fork with our friend Jim. The report is the mosquitoes are not as ferocious.

She spent July 28th hiking with another friend out to Fourth of July Lake in the Mokelumne Wilderness from Carson Pass. Our friend works as a Wilderness Volunteer. Her report is that snow is now gone from around Winnemucca Lake and there are only a couple of patches on the rail up to Round Top Lake.

While you were escaping heat on the PCT in n your area, we were doing the same not far from the Canadian border at Harts Pass. Our nephew managed to hike the entire width of the PCT right before our eyes, then yo yo back for a second complete width of the 2600 mile long trail.

Anyway, great report! Good to see you are enjoying the high Sierra.
