Big Changes in the Weather Pattern for This Weekend

A strong storm will push through the Sierra and western Nevada on
Friday bringing gusty winds, much colder temperatures and chances
for rain and snow showers. This storm does appear to herald in a
pattern that may possibly stick around through much of November with
the potential for lingering cold temperatures and maybe even
additional chances for rain and snow.

WINDS: Winds will increase significantly on Friday with a quick
burst of winds that may produce areas of blowing dust, choppy lake
conditions, as well as a brief period of fire weather concerns.

COLD: Afternoon temperatures will drop significantly from Friday to
Saturday, with western Nevada and Sierra valleys in the mid 40s/50s.
Overnight lows will drop back below freezing for many areas as well.
If you turned your sprinklers back on, now is the time to call it
for the season since the cold will linger on into the coming weeks.

PRECIPITATION: While rain and snow chances are still pretty low, the
simulations have trended a touch wetter each day, especially for the
Sierra. If you haven`t put that winter travel kit in your car, then
now is the time make it happen. It`s that time of the year where
conditions can rapidly change along the Sierra passes, so being in
tune with all the weather updates as well as Caltrans and NDOT will
save you a lot of headaches.

Stay with us through the week for additional updates!

Yup, it’s that time of year. Much of the work I’m doing at our cabin requires several hours of a “workable” temp...think mortar, stain, etc. Daytime temps up to this Friday will be in the mid-60s. Saturday...mid-30s. Guess it’s time to begin working on the interior.

I'll be dragging the Jeep down to Death Valley next week. I hate putting the top on but I don't want to regret not having it either.

Here in the Southeast (Savannah, GA right now) they're forecasting more than a week with a 40-60% chance of rain everyday. :(
But the highs are forecast to be in the upper 70s. :)
Guess that's fall in the subtopics.

Weather sounds great.
How is the new toy working out for you?
Enjoy and stay safe.

Frank, my new 'camper' is working out well - comfortable and dry. Dry is important: tropical rain last night here in coastal Georgia.

I heard from my next-door neighbor at home that it snowed a little - and stuck - last night in Bend, our first sticking snow of the year, he says.

4" of snow this morning. An hour of work with the front mount snowblower on the tractor had our place, the road, and neighbors cleared. Snowing hard now, of course, but don't expect it to last long.

Bah humbug! It snowed last night and had to break out my heavy parka when I walked Timber this AM. Oh and the Niners lost! How many days until Spring comes !

Baseball can't come too soon.
Maybe this season will at least be a
162 game one. Can't say about the
win/loss though.

49s seem to not be doing well.
Maybe they need Kaepernick back?

Looks like about 7” of Autumn out there...

That's a good bit of white stuff.
How was the winter in the place you moved from?
Nice to look at.Don't mind the snow as long as
I don't have to go to work. But being retired who cares.Right?

In a bad year, I’ve been told there could be up to 60” on the ground.
Funny thing is it can be 60in on one side of the valley and 6in on the other. Baker City and the surrounding area, the Blue Mtn. Triangle, is a nice area for sure. It was part of my area at work about 17yrs ago. You do have to like winter to live there though.

Best wishes with your new abode.

We put up all our snow poles along the road and driveways I clear with the tractor and snowblower. How bad did we jinx getting more storms soon?
