So now it's the first day of Fall

Oh my, what have I done. This seem early...

Looks like a nice little town, Steve. I moved to warmer regions from Montana -- sort of in the opposite direction you did. Cold can be fun, but shoveling snow is the worst -- find a neighbor kid, or a snowblower!

I just got back from 3 weeks of touring Nebraska. First two weeks: 80's for highs and 40's for lows. This last week: 40's for highs and 20's for lows. And it happened overnight, no transition - like someone flipped a switch.

Now they are predicting 5" of snow tomorrow for us in MSP.

...MUCH COLDER TEMPERATURES SUNDAY AND MONDAY...

Two cold fronts will move through the Sierra and western Nevada,
one tonight and another Sunday. Colder temperatures behind the
first front will bring widespread freezing temperatures Friday
morning, see the Freeze Watch for details.

On Sunday, a stronger cold front is likely to move through with
much colder temperatures. There is an increasing chance that highs
Sunday into Monday may only be in the 30s and 40s. Overnight lows
Monday and Tuesday mornings may only be in the teens in western
Nevada with single digits in the Sierra valleys. A few below zero
readings are not out of the question either. In addition, gusty
winds are behind the front Sunday into Monday morning will make
it feel even colder.

Well, the calendar says it's fall but we are enjoying winter. Highs in the 30s, 8 inches of snow so far and more forecast for the weekend. Today we experienced all forms of precipitation- rain, sleet, graupel, snow. Worst October weather in a 140 years (or best, depending on your point of view). Broke the all time record for earliest heavy snow, most October 20 snowfall and we will no doubt set a new record for total October snow. Fun times!

Where's all that global warming?
Have fun in the snow.
Sure wish we would get some form
of precipitation here.
And Christmas is just around the corner.

Just read Santa will not be at Macy's in NYC this year.
First time in 160 years, wow. What are we going to do?
No Santa. Bo Ho.What a bummer.

Woke to coldest temps so far this Fall and temps continued to fall. Red Flag Fire Warning with wind gusts up to 50 mph coming tonight so............................................PG&E will be turning our power off at 3 pm today and back on Tuesday night at 10.

We removed the deck awning this morning for the winter.

The Lady is racing to get her sourdough biscuits out of the oven after the apple pie. At least we'll settle in with the true comforts of home. :)

We made a big crockpot stew last night that's easy to heat up on the propane stove.

Cold here at nights, nice fall like days, doing pre-winter yard and house things and planning next trip somewhere! Supposed to be in low 70's today with no sign of rain but no sm0ke here from all those fires burning over the hill.

Smoke!

I always thought ,who needs heated seats?
Well back in 2015 when we bought a used
2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid loaded with just about
every bell and whistle offered heated seats were there.
Still didn't think oh good nice feature.Until the first cold winter day
get in the car, even though it's garaged it's still cold inside.
Flipped on the heated seat button WOW that sure feels great on the old bottom.

Maybe that's another sigh of "geezer hood".

They sure are nice though.

Well we got winter out of the way in October and are back to summer this week with highs in the 60s maybe even 70s. The October range for Minneapolis was a high of 80°F on October 9, and a low of 16°F on October 27. And we had 9.3 inches of snow, a new record for October. This weather will be short-lived however- back to below normal temps next week.
