By taking off the lift jacks and installing the airfoil pictured, I gained between 1.5 to 2 mpg. This is above the 11 to 12 mpg I was getting. mileage measured with a Scangage II

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Awning Project

Puffins, I'm looking at creating a awning off the back as you have, but using an awning track ala Chnlisle. Where did you attach your awning? I'm considering either attaching it to the frame in between the rear latches, or to the factory rack. Not looking for a large awning, but tired off...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Took it out

I've been thinking about taking mine out of my Hawk also. I don't need a backrest for 4 people, and I don't need sleeping for 4, 3 is already crowded. Anyone with idea's about what would be the best way to a short backrest?

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West FWC window retrofit kit

There are two products you might want to try; one called Goof Off, the other Goo Gone. They work similar and really well for many things, including old adhesive.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Couple Of New Additions

Looking good. You might want to check into using heavy duty double sided tape. It seems to stick better than the adhesive that comes with most stuff. Did you clean the vinyl with alcohol before using adhesive? Pretty important to make stick. dave, still haven't quite figured the velcro...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Which truck would you pick if........

I wish I had went for the Grandby, even with a short box. I think the extra space for the small increase in weight and price would have been well worth it.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Which truck would you pick if........

Electric locks and windows When I bought my present truck, an 04 Tundra double cab, a diesel was my other choice. Wife didn't like the noise. I think I would have been happy with the diesel, but I love the Tundra. A couple of you guys made the comment that you don't want electric door locks or...

Sounds like a trip you won't forget. Thanks for sharing. Could you expand on "what to expect and what to do" for the border crossing. Day eight: Time to make a run for the border. We decided to get out while the getting was good. The wind was still blowing hard and now fires. We were going to...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Pass thru in popup material?

I've seen antenna mounts that allow them to "rest" in a horizontal position. Probable wouldn't stick up more than the vent that way. How would you temporarily mount it to the roof otherwise? I'm still looking for an alumamagnet.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Change Refer?

I'd supplement it with an Engle instead. Search for Engle and you'll find plenty of discussion about its merits, not too many about (de?)merits. Have fun with your FWC. You've come to the right place.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Carpet Question

I wouldn't tape the carpet together. I think your idea to identify where the pieces go is the best idea. I use these squares on a pad in the bed of my truck. They work great and stay in place really well. I just take them out one at a time and put them back the same way. I've occasionally found...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Classifieds

Your just making a great site better. I suggest adding a section for vehicles. Also, don't have too many small categories. Makes it too much of a pain to look at. I think normal will be to check everything for sale (we all dream).

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Truck Payload Capacity

I believe the new Tundra has a higher load capacity. I'm sure the load capacity's listed for trucks is already a "safe" number that includes a margin for safety. They couldn't take a chance on liability risks by having a truck loaded to stated capacity just short of being overloaded.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Storage Pictures!

Nice rig and plenty of storage. I'm surprized no one on the list has this type of rig. I seriously considered a service body for my Tundra, was quoted around $6000, weight was suppose to be about 200# more than stock bed. Link to site with pics is http://dodgeram.org/ki4cy/my_ram.html#ak

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Repairing a tear in pop up material?

If you need any material, just give me a call. We have the grey material and also a lot of the older orange looking material now. We changed out an old liner the other day and I saved all the material that I could from it so that we would have some to send out to you folks with the older FWC...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Repairing a tear in pop up material?

Our Hawk is just a year old, but it looks like a small area of vinyl in a couple of corners is getting thin. Is this something to worry about, are we doing something wrong (I can't imagine what), would some coating of just the vinyl adhesive help to reinforce the area?

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Folding Steps

If you have the steps you already know this, if you don't... I find the step on the starboard side very convienent as a handhold when exiting the camper. Also use them to hang various objects from. Only occasionally do we (I) use them as steps. But when you need them they sure beat having to...
