How tall is your truck? I'd guess the camper will be about 12" above the roof of the truck not including racks, solar panels, vents, etc.

Check out b team's camper thread. They used a lot of D rings that are through bolted using 1/4" bolts/nylock nuts. Works great to hold down ice chests, bbqs, and porta potties :eek:

Less trips with the camper. I usually just ride the dual sport there and back.

I don't like the fridge because I don't use it all the time and can't take it out when it's not needed. I like the fridge because I can use it for weeks to keep stuff cool and the engel for frozen foods. No need for a bulky ice chest. :thumb:

In my case it would be cheaper if I just went on a diet :thumb:

You may be onto something but I need some pics :D I sitll like my setup for extra sleeping. Its just a wider platform and you put a sleeping pad and bag on it.

I really like those roof tents. If I didn't want the capability and comfort of a 4x4 truck/4WC I'd go with a Subaru and a lofty shelter tent doohickey. http://www.autohomeus.com/

At first i just had the camper in the bed of the truck. later I added a 1/2 rubber bed mat. This really helped the problem of loosening turnbuckles.

It seems as if the front tie downs are under more stress than the rear? Any opinions on this?

OMG lawnmower... That is my worst nightmare!

You do need to take care not to over tighten the turn buckles. And keeping all 4 wheels on the ground :eek: Mine was installed at the factory in 2003. No plates were used. I'll take a look at the bed this weekend and fix it.

Good point and for a lot of people solar isn't a smart investment. I could buy a 2000w generator for what this solar system cost so saving money isn't why i bought it. The reason i installed solar is now i have one less thing to do while camping. The camper electric systems charges itself...
