RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Wind Deflector on 2005 Tundra Access Cab W/Hawk

how about making a deflector that attaches to camper. I have seen a few made from plexi or plastic materials. My wind deflector made from a pool noodle did well and finally had to be retired after 25,000 miles or so. It would have kept going but the winds of Patagonia were too much. I made it...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Traveling with pets

Hi John, We just finished 17 months of full time living and traveling in our FWC Eagle with our 80lb golden retriever. When driving our dog had a set up like you described he laid behind the front seat on a rolled up kayak with his bed on it. He slept on the floor of the camper in his bed...

I met them on my trip down to Argentina, The world really feels smaller the more we drive around. We would meet people on the road and then a year later we would bump into each other again on a completely different continent!

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West A FWC Flat Tire? Advice?

well you will probably get a lot of conflicting answers here. In my opinion using a hi-lift anytime to change a tire would be super sketchy. The bottle jack your Tacoma came with will do just fine. The hi-lift does have its place as a piece of valuable equipment for winching or getting a vehicle...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West What is this for?

I have that on mine also always wondered what those holes are for. I have my solar wires running on the outside down the side of the camper in a piece of PVC pipe. The entire lenght of wires is wrapped in heat shrink tubing to keep it neat. I have had it that way for two years living in the...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Solar fun: no

I see a reading of 14.7 volts from my morningstar sunsaver mppt controller regularly (just about everyday with correct sun conditions) I have 5 years on a diehard 31 in the camper that still holds at 13.6 volts. I have another diehard 31 under the hood as well with two years on it. Morningstar...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West 2005 Eagle water pump question

without knowing much about your setup I would say try adjusting the pressure adjustment screw if the pump is not staying on. If its a shurflo pump it is the middle screw on the top of the pump. You can also build pressure in the system by covering the faucet with your finger and running the...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Tires for Tacoma

As many have replied go with a slightly larger tire you should be able to accommodate them on your Tacoma. My Tundra stock is 265/70r16 but I run 265/75r16. You will have way better performance with them. Here is a link to another good read to understand...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Tires for Tacoma

E rated Michelin. 10 or 12ply. Michelin are a bit more expensive but it will be made up for with how long they last. Just completed a two year trip driving from the USA to Argentina with an Eagle camper never had one flat tire. Drove the most grizzly roads if you can call them roads.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West truck/camper combo advice/opinions.

how about keeping your current set up and getting a smaller pickup or car as your daily driver. Probably the most economical option, will save you the most in fuel costs and you will escape the hassle of driving with a camper full time.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West No see-um bug netting

I replaced my door and framed window screen with no seeum screens. It was very easy. I used a hot glue gun to attach the no seeum screen to the roof vent which has worked very well. I tried this method on the windows in the tent area and it did not work out.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West staying warm winter / fall camping. Heater alternative

Don, yes you could just lay a sleeping bag over it but using a blanket would be better because the heat would radiate up and get trapped between the blanket and pad. We use a blanket that is goose down much like a sleeping bag but styled like a blanket. Check out my solar setup I have on a mods...

Srileo, we sleep on Paco pads (jacks plastic welding). They are foam wrapped in PVC. We have a regular bed sheet over the pads. We lay the heated mattress pad over this and then lay a "Mexican blanket" over the heated mattress pad. We sleep on top the Mexican blanket. Don't know much about the...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West staying warm winter / fall camping. Heater alternative

I would say just the bed area. I would say some of the big advantages are: 1)No propane heat use at night. The propane creates a lot of water vapor which I can't stand and well the propane heat is just dangerous in an enclosed area. 2) besides staying toasty warm all night, you wake up warm so...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West staying warm winter / fall camping. Heater alternative

Kilroy,no big drain on the battery at all. There is 7 heat settings so it will use more amps the higher you crank it. I would set it on 4 or 5 about 20 minutes before going to bed, then turn it down to 2 cause we were so warm. Ran it up to 10 hours one night and the battery voltage was at 12.55...

My wife recently returned to the states for a week to visit family. I had her bring back a couple of things for us that I ordered on Amazon. One of which was a 12volt heated mattress pad.
