Be careful out there... and have insurance

Glad they missed your truck and you were able to keep control. How did the hitch on the truck hold up?

Another theft, saw in FB, thought I would post here

One nice thing about Facebook market place is you can look through the profile of people you are talking to and get a better idea of what you are dealing with. I normally tell people to meet in front of the local sheriffs office. If they have a problem with it then I bail.

    Maxx Air Fan

Here is a comparison I did several years back between the MaxxFan and Fantastic Fan. https://www.wanderthewest.com/forum/topic/8893-fantastic-fan-vs-maxxfan-comparison-including-amp-usage/?hl=p5120184 Here is the amp hour chart for quick reference: MaxxFan speeds 4, 5, and 6 match up to...

How do I get my propane tank re-certified?

Has anybody ever gotten grief over an expired propane tank? I mine is over 20 years old and nobody has ever said anything. I have filled up in most of the states west of the Mississippi.

    Looks really nice.

    Maxx Air Fan

The vent size are standardized and it is a direct drop in replacement. The vent hole is framed in with aluminum square tubing and both the MaxxAir and Fantastic Fan screw into this.

How to move camper from driveway to garage?

Most people use either a homemade dolly or a harbor freight trailer.

Sanity check: my simple wiring diagram

For either application (between house batteries or truck and house battery) that would work. I prefer inline maxi fuses since they are easy to get out and don't require unscrewing, but that is a personal preference. For the ends of the truck battery to camper battery I would recommend a...

Sanity check: my simple wiring diagram

Fuse at the truck battery and another one at the camper battery. I would also put a 120v breaker in.

What could I use instead of Heco -lift?

First welcome to the forum! I have replaced the lift panels on me FWC Eagle with homemade EMT conduit lift panels. Those plus struts work really well. There is a link to a useful thread: https://www.wanderthewest.com/forum/topic/13942-lift-panel-replacement-help

    Let’s daydream a little

X2 on super singles and that camper is pretty sweet. AND appears to be reasonably priced.

    Thacker Pass, Quinn River NV

I hate seeing any land destroyed especially beautiful places (I guess they are all beautiful) but if we as the US are going to use these precious resources then we need to be destroying our own land for them and living with the direct results. Not some other possibly nameless 3rd world country...

    Environmental monitoring / logging

Interesting. I haven't seen anything like these before. Seems like a really good deal if they work as advertised.

ideas for storing bikes inside camper?

I have done it with two bikes and it is a pain. Trying to get the handle bars through the door is the worse part. Although if you are careful you can leave the front tire on. I crammed our sleeping bags (stored in pillow cases) between the bikes to keep them from moving around. Depending on how...

Couldn't stop going down hill in snow.

Most trucks disable the ABS when you are in 4-Lo. You don't want ABS to kick in when you are in the process of trying to crawl over an obstacle.

Thanks for doing the break down on your new truck. I think you made some good decisions. If you get lithium batteries and a good DC to DC charge controller this would let you pound the amps in fairly quickly and have charged batteries in no time.

Grounding question on a new project..

That is the exact type that I was talking about. And Vic is dead on with the dielectric grease. Use flux as it will make soldering easier (helps distribute the solder). I use marine heat shrink due to the additional coating on the inside that melts and helps provide a waterproof coat. Here is...

Grounding question on a new project..

First of all good question. Most people spend a lot of effort on getting power to something only to hook up a crappy ground and then wonder why it doesn't work quite right. I would do option 2. It will look cleaner, be easier to make and check connections. I would recommend using a buss bar...

    accident, now what?

Also at least around here you can rent two post camper jacks at most equipment rental places. So if the 4 corner ones don't work those would be another option.

    accident, now what?

Glad you are ok. By the damage (and lack of damage on their part) I assume you were hit by a semi-truck Hire a flat bed tow truck to pull the camper off your totaled rig. They will have to slide it but if they are careful it shouldn't do much damage. Then have them take the camper to FWC or...

    wtb k5 4 wheel camper

I had something similar in 2013 when I bought my Eagle. Really frustrating. Glad it worked out for your friend. I just sold my Eagle earlier this month and within 12 hours (7pm to 7am) I had about 10 different people trying to set up a time to buy it. The first guy contacted me within 20...

    Fire extinguisher upgrade

At least in my neck of the woods there is a difference with refilled and recertified. A recertified tag is for fire extinguishers used in commercial setting and has requirements such as the canister can't be over 10 years old or it needs to be hydro tested which is normally cost prohibitive...

    Fire extinguisher upgrade

Just food for thought. I have tried to discharge an old and expired fire extinguisher ~15 years and even though the dial was in the green nothing came out. I personally wouldn't rely on it.
